Actually, I have read the details in the case, Canada is NOT a free for all where you can do whatever you want because you think you know better than everyone else. CANADA IS NOT AMERICA. You should properly store your firearms. There should be a trial regarding these charges, and if the situation (gun instructor, imminent threat to life) warrant that the charges be DROPPED in this case, I would find that to be fair. However, regulations such as these stop assholes from keeping their heat ready just in case they need to rapidly without thinking end a human life. Honestly, from the comments alone, i've picked up the basic story. Guys house is being hit by arsonists, guy responds by shooting a firearm in the direction of the attackers. What I don't know, however, is if he had his restricted firearms license to own the gun in question. If he did, charges were apparently dropped against him anyway, so it doesn't matter. If he did NOT, then the fact that he was defending himself with an ILLEGAL firearm becomes the main problem here.
