shinyblurrysays...I think many Christians are holding their nose and voting for Trump because he is against abortion and will appoint conservative supreme court justices. There has been a strange kind of quasi-reality at the intersection of politics and faith, where the biblical worldview is kind of thrown out of the window. There are scriptures which warn us about these kinds of situations, and why America is in this position in the first place.
I hate politics, it is nasty and ugly and I don't think Christians should have much to do with it. God is our government and our faith is in Jesus Christ to bring redemption to the nation. As people turn to God we will start to see real and lasting change, and not before then.
JustSayingsays...Look man, I always liked you. I usually disagree with you and I think you're kinda crazy. However, I admire your faith, your conviction. I'm a cynic because I'm a disappointed idealist, so you are a bit of my mirror image. But...
Dude, you still live on Planet Earth. You still partake in what I call 'the real world'. We both know The Donald doesn't even give a shit about god and we both should know he's not gonna improve this mortal coil.
Wolf in sheep's clothing.
I'm just sayin'

newtboysays...What on earth makes you say that? Before running as a "conservative", he was pro abortion and supported progressive/liberal plans.
He's incredibly non religious, he reads Hitler's writings more than the bible by far (by his own admission, btw).
The scriptures warn you against this kind of person, but in your desperation, you ignore your faith in favor of placation from a consummate snake oil salesman....one that wrote a book on how to get what you want by lying.
Any Christian supporting that divisive serial philanderer, constant liar, and probable child rapist is proving a lack of faith in their stated beliefs by putting bigotry and disdain above all, including the lessons of their religion.
I think Jesus (were he real) would slap the white off of you before turning his back for supporting the antithesis of his teachings, no matter what mental gymnastics you've done to convince yourself it's ok.

shinyblurrysays...Hey JustSaying,
Appreciate you saying that, I like you too and I haven't taken offense to anything you've said. I understand where people are coming from who don't believe, because I used to be a nonbeliever. The only reason I say anything on here about God is because it's my hope that someone could make that connection to Him and have the abundant life that Jesus promised, and that He would get the glory for it. What do you mean about being a disappointed idealist, by the way?
I'm not voting for Trump, I see through the Christian act..I don't have much faith in the promises he has made. I live in the real world, but there is more going on than what we can see. I base my decisions on my convictions about that, not really the political or social or economic situations. I care about these things but there is a deeper reality going on that is beyond my individual desires.

shinyblurrysays...I'm not voting for Trump newtboy, and I am not necessarily arguing with some of your points about Trump..I am not sure what to believe about who he really is or what he would do if he were elected president. I think even if he were going to be a good president at home, I still wouldn't trust him to handle the fragile situation in the middle east or with russia, etc.
By the way, even Richard Dawkins admits that Jesus is a real person, so you are pretty out there with that belief my friend.

newtboysays...I misunderstood then...apologies. I agree, there's no telling what he might do, he's a feather in the breeze. I'm glad to hear that not all Christians have been duped, contrary to how it's been portrayed.
I think you mean Dawkins admited Jesus WAS a real person, which I agree seems likely....but to come back and slap someone today means he's NOT a person, but instead is (choose one) immortal/god/zombie/clone/timetraveler.

transmorpherjokingly says...I've never realised how similar Maher and Putin look until they were shown side by side like that!
bobknight33says...Trump is no Christian nor conservative. At best a moderate Democrat.
Which makes more conservative than Hillary.
Stormsingersays...LOL
I'll never understand the mindset of the dedicated Republican who thinks a Reagan-era Republican like Clinton is somehow liberal.
Talk about identity politics in action...if she only had an (R) after her name.

JustSayingsays...The thruth of this world is that most ideals are bullshit. Let's look at the idea that human life is sacred, the sanctity of human life. God disapproves of murder.
The death penality is older than scripture. It existed before we had written words. It is still a thing.
How can that be if we are so developed, so evolved, so civilized?
Human life isn't sacred. We shit on that on a daily basis. Murder is committed every day. For petty reasons. For political reasons. For stupid reasons.
Your holy book, the Bible, tells me to kill people for adultery.
How can you defend this?
That's why I'm a cynic, that's why I'm a dissapointed idealist. I'd like to believe but I can't. Belief makes me inhuman, makes me cruel, makes me kill adulterers. It commands me to be a murderer.
For what?
For betrayal? For sex? For deceit? For breaking promises?
I'd rather be a cynic. I choose humanism over homicide.
Your book is evil. Your faith leads to evil.
I chose compassion. I chose cynicism.
...
What do you mean about being a disappointed idealist, by the way?
