Based on Jeff VanderMeer’s best-selling Southern Reach Trilogy, Annihilation stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny and Oscar Isaac. It was written and directed by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later).

The book was good, and this is clearly more "inspired by" than a direct adaptation, and Garland has said as much, but I still think it'll be fairly good.

Trailer isn’t really inspiring me to see the movie, but the fact that’s it’s directed by Alex Garland means it’ll be worth a watch.

I have an ability to spot garbage from trailers. This is not going to be good. How bad it will be really depends on how much we're allowed to watch Natalie in that bedroom scene.
