I Wouldn't Steal A Purse, But I Do Download Films

toast says...

I agree with Farhad2000 that they are still trying to flog us the movies using old distribution methods. The discs can hold more information and it is more affordable to mass produce nicer cases and case art.

I buy DVDs for what I get on top of the movie on its own. I want something more than just some extra subtitles. You make the product more attractive and I will buy it (if the movie is also good enough to watch twice).

I don't go to the cinemas because it is a DUMP and it is ridiculously expensive making cinema trips something to treat myself with every few months. And when I do go I'm often surrounded by screaming children or the screen is covered in coke (which was attracted blackened dust like covering) making the screen even worse. Also, I find the cinema screens so lo-def compared to my monitor and friend's HD TV, it really just does not give me a cinematic experience.

I Wouldn't Steal A Purse, But I Do Download Films

spoco2 said that they download movies even though they know that it is 'bad'.

Do you only feel bad because other people are telling you that it is bad? Do you feel bad because the government tell you it's bad?

If you really do buy more DVDs because you download than if you didn't download, surely that isn't bad at all. For you and for the people who profit.
You downloading the films, but still contributing financially does not still mean that what you are doing is bad.

You could argue fairly though those who download and don't contribute financially are bad.

He hesitated when he asked himself what is 2x5, but I guess his hesitation was in whether there really was 2 teaspoons in a tablespoon. When I watch these clips I'm not amazing at the stupidity of the participants so much as the intelligence of the young'uns. They are amazing. I would never have given the correct answer!

Penn & Teller - Bullshit - Gun Control

toast says...

The points in gun control is ineffective.
Gun control doesn't work and it will NEVER work.
Look at the thousands of people who have guns illegally even though there is a gun control law. The only people who don't have a gun are the people who are LAW ABIDING. And if you are law abiding you wouldn't want to murder or shoot other people because that is also against the law.
Does this make sense?
There will always be an underground supply for anything that is banned... Like satellite tv in Cuba and Iran.
Yeah it might be safer in a world where no one and absolutely no one can get access to a gun, but the reality is, there will always be a way for someone who wants to break the law to get a gun. You just can't control that!
So the only thing you can do is defend yourself and what is better defense against gun than a gun?
As Penn pointed out, if you gave the entire female population access to a gun, whether they choose to carry it or throw it away, what is the likelihood that someone will rape them?

Roger Rosenblack or whomever that journalist was suggested call a cop. Hahahahaha. How laughable. By the time they get there, the criminals would have rape, skinned and chopped you up into a pot of boiling water.

Police Sniper Takes Negotiations To A New Level

If the gun was shattered, why was it a threat when he was 'reaching for his gun'? It was a bit too much to have to fling him backwards over the chair...
It was a really good shot though.

The point was, it would be wiser to look at alternatives which have less risk of harm, even if nuclear power plants' accidents don't happen very often they do happen, which is not as good as if they did not happen at all.
If there was an alternative to using planes allowing you to get to another location nearly just as well, which also lowered the risks of accidents, then I would consider that option!
No one is saying ban nuclear power plants like you are shouting to ban planes, just that wind and solar alternatives should not be dismissed.

At the moment, wind and solar generators are too costly and inefficient for people to build one in their back gardens, but it doesn't mean that it will continue to be that way after more R&R.
It has probably not progressed very quickly because of government intervention, but what can you do about that...

Father home from Iraq surprises daughters by hiding in box

It is a sweet video and as for 13 year olds working overtime... If she wasn't there making the gifts for us in the factory, she would probably have been starving at home trying to tend to a tiny patch of farm land her family has... What's the difference working overtime at home in the fields and working overtime in the factory? They at least get a bit more money, and don't forget they choose to work there.

The US for example has luckily been past that stage where its children worked in those conditions, and China is getting there. You think stopping from buying from China would help?

Save America from evil men. Ron Paul may be the answer.

If you are going to be in a state where say most people there are not happy with gays, regardless of the state laws, I wouldn't have thought it would have been nice to live there anyway. If you don't like the state you are in, perhaps they should consider moving to another where the people and the laws will suit you better.
It's surely silly to think that something people vote on a national level would suit everyone of every state better than something voted on a state level. And I would imagine that once things have moved from national to state level, people might feel like they have a voice and be able to protest and fight for what they believe in rather than feel useless and trampled on with nothing they can do as they don't have to fight the entire nation, just their state.

I really hope he wins as maybe the UK will also change for the better (seeing as they are lapdogs to the US). I'm fed up of this endless trampling on human rights in the name of fighting the war on terror and an excuse to give us ID cards and ability for the govt to excuse themselves of all wrong doing only to do it over and over again.

Give the power back to the people. I'm all for smaller governments, Woo!

"I hate politicians who throw around the "pro-life" talking point to get cheers."

I really don't believe that it is for cheers. It is his own personal belief.
And althought I do not agree with his views on abortion, I still think he is one of the best things for the US. Smaller govt is the way to go and you won't have to fork out thousands of hard earned money to be flushed down the toilet by departments too large to handle.
