Fox Reporter Stomping Grapes (painful!)

toast says...

I can tell you now that when she fell, she broke her penis too.
Now, I just think you lot must be horrible, terrible people for laughing at someone who has broken their penis.

Shame on you!!!!

WTF? - Woman with Chicken Phobia

toast says...

It was really quite mean what they were doing - some might argue she was asking for it though turning up at the show.

assuming these people are for real, I wonder if people who turn up think that the show will help them with their phobia/relationship/life.

These are one of those things where you laugh but underneath you know how wrong it is...

Five Genders (Indonesia)

toast says...

One person interviewed who was born a woman but lives as a man said "as long as I am a good person and I work hard, people accept me"

If only the majority of those who live in "more developed" countries were more accepting.

This was just a really bad place to park

Lewis Black Blows His Top With Anderson Cooper

>> ^spoco2:
Yeah, let's make EVERYTHING privately run, because they're all so honest and good and have everyones best interest at heart.

Yes obviously not all who run a business is going to be honest, good and have everyone's interests at heart, but not everyone who is in business is heartless and corrupt either.

Do you really think that the majority of those within government who have a say in what's what have all citizens' interests in their heart and are honest and good?? Because that is who you will be putting in charge of the running of businesses and industries.

The point is, it doesn't matter whether you are good or honest. Ultimately, if the business owner has their business's interest at heart, in a free market, market forces and if the business owner didn't want to be put out of business they wouldnt be able to have their evil ways.

>> ^spoco2:
Case in point, your poorly regulated banking system that let the whole sub prime shit happen in the first place etc.

So the fact the the people in government in the past turned their back on the gold standard and started allowing bankers to create money out of thin air has absolutely nothing to do with the problems we are facing today?

And the fact that the banks might have known that the government would bail them out of trouble has also nothing to do with it either?

Obama and "Joe the Plumber"

toast says...

Those who think Joe the Plumber is selfish, that is not true. He is already being taxed a lot in the current system and contributing a lot more and those on lower incomes.
In order to cut taxes for the lower earners, they should try to cut spending and increase efficiency of their bloated government organisations rather penalising Joe even more for being good at his job.

John McCain calls Americans 'My Fellow Prisoners'

toast says...

yes both McCain and and Obama slip up, but McCain calling the American people his prisoners could be seen as things to comes... his evil evil plans.

But so what if Obama is a Muslim? Most Muslims are not terrorists.

It is only because of people who are too stupid to assume that Muslims = terrorists that Obama's slip up is such a big deal.

Democracy Now producer films her own RNC arrest

She'll get a fair trial and the judge will see this video. My guess is she'll be acquitted. She probably should have simply turned around and walked away when the police started yelling to get out of the way.
People tend to ask for the police to explain their (the police's) orders before they obey them. You should do what they say, and ask questions later.
Getting arrested for not immediately heading the commands of a police officer doesn't make you a hero.

By the time you have laid down and done what they wanted it's too late. You might turn around later and say what they asked you to do was wrong - but nothing would come from it... no one is going to reprimand the officer for what they did even if it was wrong.

The problem isn't the person, who has every right to ask questions, the problem is the officer who was not listening and too pumped to stop what he was doing to think for one second.

Not all, but definitely some police officers will abuse their power (it's human nature when you are given a uniform and these rights to tell people what to do) as in most cases the offending officers do not have to face up to what they have done. Possibly suspended from service for a week or so then they're back - maybe working in a different department.

Ron Paul: I'm Being Shut Out Of The GOP Convention

toast says...

When Ron Paul says he wants small government he means it as in he would love to slash spending by billions and close down/minimise large money guzzling governmental departments. This is what republicans were meant to stand for.

> but when we need more teachers or a better healthcare system, they bitch and moan about 'big government', and we buy into it.

well, don't be stupid enough to buy into it...
The reason you find this need to beg the government for more teachers and bad health care is because you put it into the hands of a small group of incompetent people who have no incentives to make it better.

Doug Stanhope On Medicinal Marijuana

toast says...

Aniatario, you have located the problem. Having this universal let us all chip in and help absolutely anyone business prevents us from being able to decide what we want to do with our lives.
Instead, the decisions are often made by a small group of people who have proved time and again unable to make sensible fact-based decisions.

In the UK, they are moving weed to a high class drug apparently to send a message to young people that it is unacceptable, even though studies made are saying that the drug correctly classified. To change the drug status would, in my opinion, send young people the message that to smoke weed is even cooler now...

Officer Rivieri at it again

toast says...

>The most important jobs are paid the least while the jobs that really dont mean shit in the end are paid the most. So law enforcement, military, teachers, firemen, and so on are shit out of luck. Its not like the safety and education of future generations means anything right. While rappers, athletes, and celebrities are payed shit tons of money cause in this country all we care about is entertainment.

Your idea of most important jobs funnily enough are largely government related. Do you not know by now that every governmental department is inefficient and very useless.
Why do you think entertainers are paid more? Because they are in a market where us as the consumers can choose what we spend our money on and how much these people get. There is nothing wrong with someone earning more than someone else. There is nothing wrong with businesses who earn money. The problem is when the corporations get into bed with the government and pull strings.

I mean it's subjective how much each person should be paid... If a teacher isn't very good I'd like to pay them less and if a cop is a moron like Rivieri, I'd also like to pay him less. At least it gives people incentive to be better at their jobs. At the moment, we are Zero say in how much we'd like to pay, which I believe is largely why there is this problem.

Imagine, if we must have government run law enforcement.
I would like to be the one to decide which police department I would like to give parts of my tax money to, or at least to withhold this month's money from particular departments. Current departments can be split into smaller more independent groups.
So in this case, I will withhold my money from the group that Rivieri comes from because I don't believe that they did the right thing by suspending with pay.
The cops who are good and know how to provide a good law enforcement service will get more money as they alienate themselves from the corrupt and poorly run groups.
If the police departments knew that what they did are held accountable by each and every one of us, they might treat us with a bit more fairness and respect, and vice versa.
It's very similar to how all other normal businesses work. You screw your customers, you will not survive. Provide a great service, you will get more respect, funding and higher salaries.

As for those who are saying OH! It's going to run riot if the government stopped providing law enforcement!!!
Just think for one moment. Of course people would still need law enforcement officers or at least security guards. If the government stopped providing the service, the public are no longer going to think that it's too expensive to get their own private security guards because they would get to keep more of the tax money. With a large demand of course the private market will fill the space in an INSTANT. And because it actually has an incentive to not treat their paying customers like crap.. guess what, customers are not going to be treated with respect and the officers will be much better at their jobs.

Barack Obama "I inhaled frequently" "That was the point"

toast says...

It just shows... If you have taken drugs, it doesn't mean that you have no future... it seems you can even run for president and be praised for having done drugs. But what about those who have taken/been involved with drugs and given a criminal record because it is illegal. If Obama had been caught and thown into jail a few times... do you think he'll be able to run as such a successful candidate??
Hmm but it seems he is not going to try legalising weed or drugs in office.

Psycho Cops Strip Search Innocent Woman

toast says...

every department of government is to force citizens to do as they want

> 3) I didn't see any excessive force.
> 5) This video would have seemed a LOT less dramatic had she not been screaming bloody murder the whole time.

She was already traumatised from being attacked. She needs someone to talk calmly to her, not strip her down. He held her arms behind her back, which could have been painful and if you were in a room surrounded by people you thought you could trust who are doing such humiliating things to you, OF COURSE YOU WOULD SCREAM. You have no feelings.

Why didn't they reply to her when she asked what they were doing? No one in that room said a word.
And I think I heard one of the men snicker as he closed her door.
