I've seen a short clip of Django from sometime in the 50s (maybe late 40s) playing very pedestrian bebop. That was a few years ago and I can't find it or even reference to it anywhere now so maybe I'm completely mis-remembering. It's conceivable it was a montage of still shots over audio. It was one of the saddest things I've seen or heard so honestly I wish I could say it was just a bad dream.

I was burglarized once. Some guys broke into my house (thankfully while I was out) but didn't take anything. It turns out they had the wrong address. They then broke into my next door neighbor's house, their original target. What did they steal? His extensive gun collection. (actually they also stole his extensive drug collection too, but of course he didn't tell the cops that, or that his gun collection was much more extensive than he'd told them because most of them were unregistered).

That's my only personal experience with the crime-deterring power of having a gun (or many guns) in the house.

There's a reason that people have been trying to find a replacement for chain drive since the earliest days of bicycles, people: chains suck. This is the most promising replacement I've seen yet. There's an internal-geared 8 speed version that looks pretty nice for a commuter bike:
