Jessi Slaughter on Good Morning America
But there is always the possibility that she could sneak online somewhere else or when her parents weren't watching. There is no way to absolutely foolproof against your kids doing something stupid. Sure, the parents didn't even take the minimum precautions, but the tragedy that struck could have happend anyway.
Is the point you're making that its okay that she received death threats and had a lot of harassment because her parents failed to protect her properly? Or are you blaming her directly because she automatically needs to take responsibility for whatever she does at whatever age? Neither of these alternatives feel very convincing to me.
She made some bad choices, she said things she shouldn't have said, she might even have done things utterly stupid. But in no way could she at 11 understand the full depth of what she was doing and what kind of people she was dealing with.
I read some discussions involving you here on the sift, and I think people who didn't know you or know what you had done came out and judged you and it hurt, and you hadn't realized how your actions would be perceived by others and couldn't understand the reaction and/or backlash that you had to face. If that hurt you, you should have at least an inkling of understanding about how hurtful the combined effort of 4chan would be able to utterly destroy someone. I cannot bring myself to see any humor in it.
I don't know, I recently posted a horrible video of israelis killing palestinians. I thought it was fun, so maybe Im just full of shit. It's possible. But I feel sorry for this girl.

@<a rel="nofollow" href="http://videosift.com/member/chtierna" title="member since September 25th, 2008" class="profilelink">chtierna she may be 11 years old, but her father certainly isn't. If he payed attention, this would never have happened. Posting things on the internet is like posting it in the newspaper, except more people can read it - how do you think people would feel if she made a letter to the editor saying she wants to "put a glock in your mouth and make a brain slushie" and post naked pictures of herself on page 6?
Freedom, like the internet, comes with responsibility. If you're not adult enough to realize that responsibility, then you definitely shouldn't use it. The parents, as always, are to blame for the behavior of the kids.
She's like a stupid tourist who wants to get her picture taken with a cuddly wuddly panda bear, kicks it, and gets her face bitten off. I don't hate her, I feel sorry for her. And I laugh derisively in her general direction.

I think the standard is "innocent until proven guilty", so I'm more curious how you justify that she deserved to have death threats aimed against her and to be humiliated by thousands of people online. She said some stupid stuff, she maybe even did some stupid stuff, and you call for blood.
I'm sorry but you just saying that the fact that she is 11 doesn't factor into it doesn't quite cut it for me. Maybe you never made a mistake when you were 11, shit maybe you thought things through as clearly as any other adult, I know I didn't, and I also know I wouldn't want to have my mistakes blown up for everyone to see and judge. People make mistakes, and wiser people forgive them. I think there are better ways to learn how you're supposed to behave than getting harassed.
In the end I want to ask you a question. How far would you like to take it? How much punishment do you think that she deserves? Do you think it would be okay if she was driven to suicide? Or if she got hospitalized for cracking under the pressure. Would that satisfy you?

I'd like to hear your reasoning on why you think she "doesn't deserve" the treatment she got? (But please something other than "she's 11") You should check out the link I posted in the video page, it might clear up some issues or questions you have.

I'm with you on this one, she is 11 and didn't deserve this treatment.

Yeah that one was great. I can't believe they burned the house and store down and couldn't preserve it, would have been so cool just to see pictures from within. And that things could have been so well preserved, I was amazed at the descriptions.

Her parents came across as clueless, even stupid, in the TV interview. They definitely should have found a better way to deal with this. As for a good beating, this man looks like he's received his fair share of them, and it didn't seem to have made him any smarter.

I'm not sure I understand the hate towards an 11 year old in the comments above. Internet can be the nastiest place, and yes the parents should have warned her and done a better job of keeping track of her, but people will make mistakes, and when you're 11 you're gonna make them all the time.
This had to have been something she couldn't have thought fully through, couldn't have anticipated and I cant see how she deserves any of it.
totally agree.
the father needs a good beating though.....

Since you know about color, what did they do in Seven and Fight Club? I always felt they messed with the colors in those movies aswell, but it doesnt seem to be using teal/orange, more like yellow/brown or something.
In reply to this comment by volumptuous:
Looks like shit.
I have an original cell from the 1st film, and love everything about Tron. This, however, looks like just another dumb pseudo-romantic "epic" POS, which abuses the ORANGE AND TEAL color grading crap that every other film keeps slogging.
The original Tron was BLUE AND RED. Not orange and teal! wtf?

Well, someone has edited the ad, taking out a portion where I guess the Israeli and the Palestinians are playing a jolly game of "soccer over the wall" and replaced it with the Israeli ordering an air-strike, presumably on the opposing side, then cheering and celebrating their victory, all whilst keeping the original soundtrack of the ad.

Just a little closing note: This is the closest Ive been to the inception of an internet meme. When I submitted this video it had less than 2000 views, it was friggin awesome to watch it explode on youtube over the following days. I don't in any way take any credit for starting the meme, but observing it from so early was very nice.

Why Do Women Lead Men On?
I have an evolutionary theory to why women don't just hand out their vagina like candy:
Everytime a woman sleeps with a man she 'risks' having a baby. This is a big commitment, especially for the female. On the occasions that this is with a responsible male he will stick around to help taking care of the offspring. If the guy takes off she's stuck with the baby and both their chances of survival go down. Hence if the woman is more careful with whom she picks she has a better chance of ensuring her genes survive.
Sure, in todays society you can use a condom. Also, in todays society a mother with her baby will not be left to die, society will step in and help out. But neither of these things have been around for long enough to make an impact on instincts etc.
The problem with this theory, other than that I probably don't even know what I'm talking about, is that we and our ancestors are group animals, so I guess guys can't leave just like that, and even if they did, there would be other parts of the group that could help with the new offspring.
Also, another problem is to explain stuff like one-night-stands etc.
