TED | M. Hypponen - How the NSA betrayed the world's trust

CreamK says...

Very good speech from Hyppönen, once again. It's funny that thru the years, his english pronunciation hasn't improved a lot.. For those that don't know, he's F-Secure spokesperson (and i guess innovator too, he's been there from the start, too bad their products are crap but with out them we would have no security at all..) They made some important inventions in the mid-90s.Some of them CIA fought with tooth and nails like 128bit encryptions claiming it's a security risk if USA can not intercept every signal they get (yes, this problem is OLD...) but F-Secure and other companies, ISPs, everyone were united in this issue and those security measures are now a commonplace...

Terry Gilliam's Advice to Tarantino

CreamK says...

Tell to RIAA, MPAA and all the acta/sopa/pipa supporters.. For them it's very much a business affair and each work of art, every color, every rhythm and every word should be copyrighted. My artist inside says BS, i do what ever i like even if only one person ever hears or sees the results.

Art was doing great until 50s. Since, everything is getting harder and more protected. Art does not thrive on profit driven world. And we as a global community will never reach peace until our artists are free to communicate.

Have you ever heard of a baritone guitar? It sounds awesome!

CreamK says...

I modified my electric guitar to accept baritone tuning not so long ago. I really like the low grunt and the fact that i have more space between regular and bass guitar.

Game Dev Calls Copyright Claim on Negative Reviews of Game

CreamK says...

Not uncommon. Game companies can be very touchy of negative feedback. Some games go to great lengths to limit any kind of negative responses banning people, trying to shut people up in 3rd party sites too.

The countrys history does not matter when we are talking about human rights.

Jews have been hated since the beginning of time, scattered throughout the world and was give a postage size stamp piece of land after nearly being decimated by Hitler.

Their new land is theirs and if they don't want to "mix" then that's is their national right.

Everyone (in the general sense) hates them anyway --except the American right- -just leave them be.

Are they excessive and overly indulged with National Pride- You bet.

But from their point of view I can understand it.

Their detainment camp was probably build by Halliburton, who built our FEMA ( American detention ) camps. A.K.A. REX84

Fix Your Posture with This Animated Guide to Sitting Right

CreamK says...

Our school got these nice "ergonomic" chairs.. Man they are awful, there's no lock, there's a spring and in order to stay in good posture, you have to simultaneously keep your self up, lean on your elbows and push back.. When you lean forward the back support follows you and pushes slowly you to the edge of your seat and when you lean back it's like you got nothing there and the whole thing feels like it's gonne capsize. It's simultaneously too stiff and too soft. It takes about 2 hours and i get back cramps.. And they claim they are super healthy as you can't relax.. If i ever meet the guy who designed those, i'm gonna kick him in the nuts. I'll take my gaming chair anyday..

Gordon Ramsay - How to slice a pepper

CreamK says...

I prefer the usual way, i get to use the whole edible part of it. With Ramsays method, you are not using the part under your finger (top? bottom? opposite the stump? not native english so don't know what that part is called.) I just cut around the "stump", no seeds and the whole vegetable is used.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Republican Shutdown Threats

CreamK says...

Don't know where you live but here in Finland, the whole concept is something you're born with. For most of my adult life i really thought that it is the same for all in the "western" world and once i learned the truth my instinct was "damn that is just wrong". In the 80s, i thought that our concept CAME from USA, not that we should be exporting that concept there. It is the land of the free, ffs. (it came here from Sweden, actually..)

Just the fact that if you get hit by a car or develop cancer, health payments is the least of your worries, just like it should be. Patient can concentrate, stress free, on recovery and you don't need to miss any treatment because you ain't got the money for it. Just the concept that profit should not be a part of health care industry (unless you want to, we got private clinics that are above the universal health care in term of waiting times etc.) that is ingrained to the culture brings comfort and equality. The middle class chooses between the two, the high end goes private and poor get the same quality from general healthcare, there's something very comforting there. Every person i see, i just know that he/she is taken care of. I'm not better or worse than the rest.

In my mind, it's a question of human rights to get the same treatment than the wealthy get. Money should not be a part of that equation. The same principle goes for education, it is a human right to get the same education as the rest will, money should not be a part of that either. We are here because of our culture and wouldn't be able to survive without past generations knowledge. One crucial part of that knowledge is how to treat wounds. Denying that is just sick, demented, plain wrong.

This is how much my life differs from you. I get all the possibilities and it's my freedom to use them or not. And on top of it all, we do it cheaper than you. How is that not implemented everywhere baffles me.. How sick a parent must be to deny his child all the possibilities, how sick you neighbor has to be to deny that from you?

I agree that universal healthcare is necessary, but a right? I myself say hardly.

A freedom is something that everyone within its parameters should be entitled to but can be taken away. A right is something that we were born with that should be global in nature. Freedom = Voting (Citizen, non-felon, etc.) Right = No cruel and unusual punishment, person(s) we choose to marry, etc.

The Battle for Power on the Internet: Bruce Schneier at TEDx

CreamK says...

I'm afraid we are too far gone. USA citizens have showed that surveillance is not a problem for the majority in western society. Otherwise they would've mobbed NSA HQ and burned it down. The "i got nothing to hide" ideology trumps the idealistic "we are free" and this is ONLY because the majority does not understand what this whole things is all about.

We had a chance to unite the world and make something really wonderful but that chance is now gone and we are to blame.. Well, i dare to say, you are to blame, i fcking tried.

Ten years from now, we are gonna miss the haydays of 00 when speech was free. Twenty years from now our every single heartbeat is monitored and freedom exist only in our minds. And it's your fcking fault, don't come crying to me then.
