Peter Schiff's Response to Obama's State of the Union Speech
I know Peter Schiff doesn't like to spend money but the dude needs to get a new webcam, honestly
Bedside Gun Rack - The Backup
"The Smartest Money You'll Spend in Your Life!"

3 Minutes Of Why You Should Not Believe Everything You See
I would totally vote for Kay Barnes, her parties look awesome.
Liberia War Cannibalism
Sad ... it is difficult to know how to begin to help. I suppose spreading knowledge is the first step. Thanks for posting the video.
A bit on Liberia's origins from wiki ...
Founded as a colony in 1822 by freed slaves from the United States, the area was already inhabited by various indigenous ethnic groups who had occupied the region for centuries. The freed slaves were so thankful to American president James Monroe that they named their capital city Monrovia. In 1847, the colony of freed slaves declared independence and founded the Republic of Liberia. In 1980, the government was overturned in a military coup, and from 1989 to 2005 Liberia was in a state of flux, witnessing two civil wars, the First Liberian Civil War (1989–1996) and the Second Liberian Civil War (1999–2003) that displaced hundreds of thousands of people and devastated the country's economy.
Weed And Driving
Yeah, independent thought is trouble for governments fearful of evolution and correction. And Farhad, you're on to something with your consumerist zombie angle. I think I've spent/lost like $500 dollars gambling while drunk, whereas I think I've spent at most $4.95 on a burrito while high -- reduces consumption by 2 orders of magnitude.
San Francisco 2009 Pillow Fight on Valentines Day
Ha, radical. I'll have to hit this up next year. Where was it at? Looks like embarcadero and market. Oh and I think that guy with the boombox bike holds down a roller-skate rave in golden gate park on the weekends.
The Walkmen - "Four Provinces"
They are great live. For the next week or two they're in the u.k. and they start their north american tour mid-april.
This will destroy you - The World is Our ____
I'm just starting to get into post rock too. Thanks for the introduction paul4dirt and the recommendation RedSky. I discovered Helios through a VBS program. You should check them out if you haven't already. I like the album Eingya.
Oh, and if you want to see the nuclear test site in this video, enter these coordinates into google earth: 37N 116W.
OpenStreetMap 2008: A Year of Edits
Fascinating how closely it resembles photos taken of the earth at night. The link between computer availability and energy consumption makes total sense and this demonstrates it perfectly. Cool video!

BART shooting cop arrested in Nevada
I saw a creepy thing in Cole Valley (nicer neighborhood in SF) yesterday. Two officers came into the cafe I was working at and they both had smiley face stickers on the base of their gun clips. Because the guns are holstered 'barrel down,' the stickers were positioned to be right side up and obvious from their backs. I know they have a tough job, and I like to joke around as much as the next guy, but I thought it was distasteful and really unprofessional given what just happened two weeks ago, 10 miles away, on the other side of the bay bridge.
The Biggest Star Known to Man
Cool, I didn't know that. I was thinking it might be possible now with adaptive optics on earth and space telescopes. I was actually secretly hoping someone would correct me ... so thanks!
The Biggest Star Known to Man
I understand the primary point of this video is to play badass industrial techno and show the enormity of space and all but it is scientifically misleading. These stars are point sources of light and can not be photometrically resolved. All those pretty pictures of marbles in this video are images of the sun, our sun, taken in different wavelengths (e.g. uv, x-ray, etc.), and then digitally shaded in visible colors. Upvote for giant stars with crazy names though.
BBC Nuclear Attack Aftermath Film: Casualties
Sounds simple enough to me. Thanks to this video post-apocalyptic life will be just like life is now except with different errands. Instead checking mail daily and watering plants weekly we'll just check the radio daily and tag and bury bodies weekly.

I am now officially impotent.
