Wiki? Manual? How To?

Ok, am I blind, do we actually have this somewhere and I don't know where to look (which is a problem in and of itself)?

Where are the instructions on how to use all the various features that the privilaged few have?

How do you replace a thumbnail of a video if you are not the video creator?
How do you provide an alternative embed?
How do you tag Amazon items?

How do you do all these things? I know they can be done but I'm buggered if I can sift through all the old sift talk posts to find the one announcement of it that says how you do it.

Come on guys, a bit of doco wouldn't go astray.

It would help those who know the answers to create the wiki... doesn't help me who would like the answers though.

Also, I'm sure Lucky would prefer it to be under the hood of his VaroCMS rather than in another wiki site.

I couldn't agree more. After using the Minecraft Wiki extensively, I've realized that it's the perfect medium for documenting arcane but important rules and keeping them up to date. it would be nice to have it on a subdomain- and tie in our user authentication- we'll need to investigate this.

@campionidelmondo I disagree. Any complex system needs instructions of some sort for uhm some people. Arguably, it would be better if everything was just intuitive and instantly knowable, but it's just not realistic with some of the things we have - and the budget, I guess.

That's pretty much my point. The system has gotten way too complex and convoluted. It's not that obvious if you've been a member for some time and the system has grown around you, but if you'd see the site through the eyes of a new member...oh boy. The wiki is not going to change anything imo, because I doubt many new members will invest the time to go through it. I mean if they don't read the FAQ, why would they read the wiki? Besides, a website explaining how to use a website? C'mon.
