Why do we have to wait 2 days to fix someone's *dead post?

Can we change the fix dead embed so we don't have to wait 2 days to fix someone's *dead post? Several of my bookmarks have been *deaded which are owned by a non active user and I've found fixes for them, but I can't fix them since it gives the original poster 2 days to fix it. Does it really matter who fixes it?

I'd assume it's because it awards the fixer power points. It would open it up for possible abuse if someone can dead and fix an embed code right away. Strangely enough I thought exactly the same thing until I read your post and realized its potential downfall.

The *deading just to earn yourself a power point award is one reason. Another is that there may be many choices of video host sources available, so the submitter is reserved the right to select the embed they'd prefer.

If you'd like to adjust sift policy from 48 hours down to 24 from dead to deadpool, start a poll.

Yes start a poll, so we can get it down to 10 minutes.. I hate when I find a dead video, and immediately find a fix, only to not be able to actually fix it.

just mark it * dead and supply the link to the working one in the comment with it
that's at least what I try to do.

I can't start a poll, it says I can't start a new one while voting is active on another one. I can understand why it was set at 2 days before when you got a star point for fixing one, but since it's now a power point and you still can only get one per week, I'm all for lowering or removing the waiting period.

Maybe you can find a way to check that the original submitter is active and if not, allow the video to be fixed without a waiting period.
