The Dismantling of the TayTV Collective

I think now is a good time for me to weight in on the current climate here at Videosift, especially considering I am the guy standing in the middle.

Many apologies were received, although I didn't comment in many of the threads. I read everything all apologies are accepted as long as mine is too.

I wrote quite a long post for the sifters explaining a little bit about my history, feel free to get some additional insight on what past events have brought me here. I have been incredible shocked to see how many TayTV readers have commented in my defense the last couple days. To them I still stand by my original promise that videosift is the best video community.

Brian and James want to build a successful business here on videosift and I want to help them do that. I am an example of the future paying opportunities that exist within this new media field. It is ultimately up to them to decide whether my presence here is bad or good. Although I may never sign another "video research" contract after this one, I can guarantee you somebody else will.

I have spoken with Brian and James and the TayTV collective is going to turn into an Eco/Nature/Enviro sift (I'm in the market for name suggestions)

I suppose that's a fair compromise. But I'm still gonna miss Throw Away Your TV, especially considering I followed the title's instructions, and have to watch online clips now.

Envirosift, maybe?

"I think now is a good time for me to weight in"... while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I may have waited a few more days.

I can't tell if it will help things or further alienate people, but you did bring up this video research / media consultant stuff again. It might be informative just in terms of general curiousity about how one goes about getting paid to "surf". I realize that is an oversimplification, but maybe you can talk a little about not necessarily about what you do / have done... But, in general terms about what you know about how media companies approach bloggers / etc. The mechanics, what they are interested in, how people get involved etc.

You may even have a NDA but from what I understand you made reference to working for media groups already. For the record there have been other sifters with similar expertises.

Of course this subject might spark all sorts of new fun.

A few people seemed upset upon learning I worked online. I want sifters to understand I am not an established pro or anything, it's all new to me Joe.

Always safe to remember I was at the sift before this job. Joe, I don't really know what they are interested in at NB i have the freedom to just post as I would on the old TayTV, my boss is a blogger who helped the charity startup, so I trust him.
