The Carlos Mencia Saga
We all remember about 3 years back when Joe Rogan grilled Carlos on the stage of the Comedy Store for ripping off people's jokes. That just opened the floodgates for other comedians to come forward and rip on him for doing the same thing. People probably don't care any longer, or have decided for themselves what happened. Well, I do and for those of you who might still give a shit, or have time to kill, Marc Maron has a podcast where he interviews Carlos Mencia.
Marc does not pull any punches, yet he comes across as unbiased. After the first interview, he doesn't feel right about how Carlos responds so he talks to some more of his comedian peers and finds out more. Using this new knowledge he grills Carlos a second time. Carlos goes from charming to sweating bullets.
First interview, Carlos is very composed and his answers are well thought-out. A product of having dealt with this for a number of years

I've only listened to part 1 so far, but I can't stand the way he ingratiates himself to Maron. He's desperate to be liked, and he tries too hard to have others identify with him. With all the "bro"'s and immediately validating anything that comes out of Maron. He reeks of desperation.
I'm interested in this story too but can't play the audio. Is there a transcript somewhere?
Ok, listened to part 2. He's a douche.

I'm glad Marc was not happy with his responses. When I heard it, I kind of wanted to believe that things were being blown out of proportion just he did a good job explaining the whole "not really Mexican" issue. Good thing Maron had some people skills and could determine Carlos' honesty.
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Very interesting inside baseball look at the comedy biz. Seems like a very ugly biz to be in. I listened to both hours and it kept my attention throughout.
I hope he interviews Louis CK.
Ahhh, THE video that encouraged me to de-lurk, sign-up, and post my very first comment here on VS. It's been that long already?
Edit: Apparently it has...wrong video. D'oh!
I absolutely love Marc Maron. Got a chance to see him live. Very smart dude. He interviews well.
