Show all comments
I there a way to default to "load all comments?" I always glance through all the comments so I'd rather not have to click to load them all every time.. I'm not sure if only loading the first 10 comments is really much of an improvement since if a video is interesting enough to collect more than 10 comments, I would guess that most people want to see them all.

The option is called "disable rapid comment listings" under "filters". Might not be the most obvious name I guess. The feature itself is great. We never had any illusions about it being popular among the community, but it's something all users benefit from. It drastically reduces loading times for video/talk pages with more than 10 comments while at the same time saving traffic and server load. Many visitors don't look beyond the video and through the comments.
awesome, thanks
Right, and for morons like me, where do I find 'filters'?

Id have it by default as "show all comments" , The comments and sift community is probably more significant than the video sifting itself. (although they are intertwined)

Same for me, but I think for the majority it's not, so it's fine leaving the default as it is now - takes a load off the server and saves lucky a heart attack if it breaks down again.
Do my plush sift bot toy idea , and scrap the t shirts , then from all the millions of profit you can buy faster servers and a holiday in the Caribbean.
I've found a good compromise where I keep it on, but maximize the listing size to 30 comments. That way, the feature only kicks in where it is most needed.
Wow! I just found out about this whole "load more comments" thing and kind of went ballistic. I'm hate it so much. hate hate hate
