And of course I came up with another alternative to share shortly after hitting "submit" (d'oh).

If this was a spam control - which it also works as, despite not being so designed - I was going to suggest upping the limit for users with stars. But as a diversity measure, the design is clever. And it'll prevent the starred users from burning off even more spare time on VS.

It could, in fact, save them from themselves. Clever.

Having said that, 3 in 36 is still a good idea, IMHO.

Well, lets give this a go first. If a lot of other people chime in that it's too restrictive, we would probably loosen it a bit.

Good point; I was also going to suggest some sort of message telling people how much time is left until the block is clear - esp. before attempting to submit - would be handy.

And I wonder if I've encountered a bug because the change just got implemented, or if this is something that will recur down the road? My profile says last submissions were over 1 day ago, but I'm still blocked. Perhaps it's because I posted 4 the day before?

You should be able to post now Krupo - let me know if not, you had a couple of videos that were pretty close to the 1 day mark, so not sure if that was the issue.

Yes it's a good idea. I've caught myself on posting to many videos (rushing . It should prevent from posting average videos and there will bee time to watch other new posted videos.

Hmmm, I just posted 3 in 45 minutes. Are the restrictions in place? Perhaps you have a special setting for the person with the most votes who isn't an admin?

Really? Darn - something wrong there- the limit applies to all of us - even VIPs like you mlx ;-)

2 per day? Ugh, too low! Now, it is becoming like VideoBomb. At least VB has higher number like 5 I think. 2 is way too low! On some days, I find A LOT OF GOOD VIDEOS!!!

Also, it would be nice to show the time that our 24 hours end.

Jeez, 24 hours is a long time. After a few emails from you, and a couple of frustratingly thwarted video posting attempts by me - we've decided to up the limit to 3 posts in 24 hours.

3 is still too low.

Is it just me, though, or is the new video queue relatively smaller these days?

And do the FAQ's mention this - is there a limit to how long videos can sit in the new video queue before they fall off? http://www.videosift.com/story.php?id=2182 I keep checking to see if this Korean video will get its third or fourth vote and yet it continues to wait after a good week of only 2 votes. Hmmm...

I must say though, this is the first time I checked out VB per the comments here - nice colour scheme, and amusing counter-intuitive concept (bomb = good?), but I much prefer the VS tag cloud and video layout. Good work guys.

Ya, I prefer VS as well. And I like the restrictions - VS is getting ginormous, and this helps keep it select.

However, I have to add the devil's advocate view. It might be that videos of lesser quality get through simply because there is not as much choice in the que.

It doesn't work so good I've posted 2/3 last submitted videos 1 day and 5 hours ago and still can't post new one.

I have a few more GOOD ones, but noooo I exceeded my daily limit. We should bump it to five or ten! I think VideoBomb has five per day.

Hey ant, we are looking at staggering it like so.

7 - for people with 100 videos
5 - for people with 50
3 - for people with 25
2 - for people with 15
1 - for lowly late comers to our community
