Does anyone here play Supreme Commander?

SupCom is an RTS game. Imagine Starcraft, but on a much, much larger scale (one map from the original SupCom was 81X81 Kilometers).

I can't figure out why folks are so excited about Starcraft - SupCom is loads more difficult, complex, and entertaining.

I still haven't purchased SupCom 2 - but this vid should give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

man if it goes on sale i'll buy supreme commander.

playing SINS now.
I've watched hours of starcraft replays, looks like a really asinine game. Even if I do like the liquidnazgul vs. "the little one" starcraft 2 replays.

I don't know which is which. I haven't even played 2, but it's supposedly much better and easier to play than 1 (which is still pretty awesome).

If you do get it, PM me your username for some multiplayer action.

I played it a bit and played the old Total Annihilation too. The main problem I had with it, was that the units had no "soul". I had no real empathy for them, which is something Starcraft and Warcraft does well.

I did love that they simulated every gunshot and that it's a much grander scale though. If SupCom 2 improves on the first and makes it a bit, well, better, then I might just try it out.

That's fair - it's all machines and that doesn't lend itself well to drawing the player in as well as Blizzard does it.

I really love the battles though. Some of the 3 and 4 sided multiplayer battles I've been in are truly epic - and the strategy involved is very interesting. The massive scale and intelligence-gathering tactics and counter-tactics mean you really have to be able to respond very quickly (in terms of techologies and/or units).

When I do purchase SupCom 2, it would be nice to have other sifters to play against - we could even record matches and have them posted on the sift.>> ^gwiz665:

We are going to have to go head to head on GPGnet sometime. I'm going on a business trip for a coupla days, but I'll PM you this weekend so we can have a skirmish (SupCom 1 that is).

Yup, I love TA and still play it from time to time... I own both Sup Com 1 & 2 and have played them a bit but not online yet.

TA is awesome, me and my old roommates used to rock that shit, fucking nuke each other, or k bot invasion. There was a secret bot, the repair arm in the edition we played and you had to make a k-bot truck platform and get level 3 to build it. Once you had it though, you could set it to help your factories make units WAY faster. It was great.

I've got SupCom 1 but didn't play it much so I probably suck.
Too busy finishing my studies at the moment, and I would guess the same is true for my bro (Larsarus). Would love to play some time next week perhaps?

Nice avatar by the way... I love Cheech. Up in smoke is awesomely funny.
