I'm not sure I agree. I only ever see it in "light" mode and it seems okay to me. Aside from that, I think for the general public, dark my be too overwhelming. That's probably why most all popular sites (like ours ) don't have a black theme.

By the by, we've just started in on redesigning the site from scratch, so it's going to look totally different (better) than it looks today. Eventually.
