When Cactus Attacks
I was trying to remove some nettles from the garden with a stick and secateurs and with all the care in the world managed to get stung. This is why I will never handle a venomous snake!
Why Australian snakes are so venomous
I read an interesting article on the BBC's web site on exactly this question - http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20160404-why-some-animals-have-venoms-so-lethal-they-cannot-use-them
It makes some of the same points as this video, but also has an additional one in regards to why some animals are so toxic to humans: Bad luck! We aren't their targetted prey, so it's pretty much irrelevent to them whether their sting can kill one or 1,000 humans.
The "Why" doesn't get addressed until 5:20, and even then it's preceded by "I think it's because..."
The first five minutes are some pretty good filler though.
How Snake Venom Kills You - Earth Unplugged
Now i want to know which type of venom and snake is the most painful, and which venom and snake kills you the fastest.
Boomslang Snake vs Chameleon
Boomslang has a potent venom, and seems to get a few bites in on the chameleon, who seems to be faltering toward the end. I think the snake won this round.
Also, that snake is fast! I wouldn't want to tangle with it.
Snake bites woman on the face after she tries to KISS it
I've heard it reported as being a python, and that looks correct to me in the video.
With regards to "is it deadly?", the answer is no -- pythons are not venomous. They kill via clamping down with a lot of sharp teeth (image) to prevent escape and then constricting/squeezing.
No vital stuff in the nose and not enough veins or arteries to bleed out. Probably hurt like a mofo, though! And she may need some work done on the nose.
Herpetologist Details His Envenomation and Death
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Everyone knows you don't use boomslang venom– it's the skin that's useful.
Herpetologist Details His Envenomation and Death
Note that in the absence of antivenom, DIC and respiratory suppression can be managed in an Intensive care setting - blood transfusions and fresh plasma for coagulation deficiencies would have been available at this time so it would have bene worth a try. I doubt that he underestimated the venom - bleeding from the gums is a clear sign of systemic coagulopathy which was not going to clear by itself and any herpetologist worth his salt would know that.
Camel Spider Chews Finger!
They don't actually have to be venomous to be dangerous. Adrenaline can kill you...
Ariel atom on Nurburgring VS Corvette Z06 600HP
Atoms are insane.
A Corvette Z06 has around 505hp "stock" giving 355 BHP per ton, a 600hp modified would be around 420 BHP per ton.
If that's (and I'm fairly sure it is, by the sound) An Atom V8 500, it's pushing 863 BHP per ton. 20 BHP per ton more than a Hennessey Venom GT. The Bugatti 16.4 GS Vitesse is 594 BHP per ton, and if it's "just" an Atom 300 SC, it'll be grunting out 545 BHP per ton.
So, if it's a V8 like I believe it is, the power to weight ratio is double the 'vette's.
The Atom V8 is easily in the "Superbike" area of performance. Not bad for a car that is completely legal on almost every road on the planet.
*Figures from http://www.autosnout.com/Cars-Bhp-Per-Ton-List.php
Look like the Atom driver simply knew the track better or was a better driver. Vette looked cautious.
Surviving a Black Mamba bite
"Usually a normal person would never inject themselves with venom."
Well, I don't think a normal person did it in this case, either...
Iron Body Technique
The 5 deadly venoms (awesome crazy old school Kung Fu) calls this toad style.
These demonstrations are always impressive to me.
Grouper Eates Lionfish
From Wikipedia: "Aside from instances of larger lionfish individuals engaging in cannibalism on smaller individuals, adult lionfish have few identified natural predators, likely due to the effectiveness of their venomous spines. Moray eels (family Muraenidae), bluespotted cornetfish (Fistularia commersonii), and large groupers, like the tiger grouper (Mycteroperca tigris) and Nassau grouper (Epinephelus striatus), have been observed preying on lionfish. It remains unknown, however, how commonly these predators prey on lionfish. Sharks are also believed to be capable of preying on lionfish with no ill effects from their spines. Park officials of the Roatan Marine Park in Honduras have attempted to train sharks to feed on lionfish as of 2011 in an attempt to control the invasive populations in the Caribbean. Predators of larvae and juvenile lionfish remain unknown, but may prove to be the primary limiting factor of lionfish populations in their native range."
