ISS Assembly Time-Lapse Animation

BSR says...

I'm guessing that as each piece is added, it is already orbiting with the station exactly whether it's attached or not.

The station does need periodic boosts as there is some drag caused by atmospheric changes by the sun.

I wonder what all the orbital dynamics were like? I would guess that every addition would mean a change to the orbit/speed/etc. to keep the thing in the right place.

T.I. has Melania Trump...

newtboy says...

You are such a caricature of a ridiculous reality challenged republican that I know you aren't for real. Colbert couldn't spout such nonsense with a straight face, and he's a professional idiot republican.

Orange Kanye (DJ Chump) would own the plantation if it was 1818, he could walk off and back on at will.

Keep lying to yourself, no one else buys it.
Republicans champion civil rights and equality for minorities and despise racists, democrats support blatantly racist programs and laws and have embraced open racists and Nazis into their party...and the sun makes it dark and cold and water gets you dry. See, I can spout nonsense too, but only a moron would ever believe any of it.

#walkaway again? The fake movement that exists only in right wing fantasy that uses stock photos to "prove" there are "real people" walking away? Jesus, Bob, you just have to keep begging for more poo pie, even after we told you it's made from shit and showed you the video of it being made. WTF, man?!
Is it true?
Are you just setting up rational counter argument by spouting easily debunked irrational tripe? Sure looks that way sometimes.

Your just pissed because "orange Kanye" walked of the plantation.

Wake up, many blacks have had enough of the Democrat lies. Guess it makes these blacks smarter than you. #walkaway.

And with this video I rest my case that we are not so insignificant.

For example, the Sun is as much a part of us as the beating hearts in our chests.

When we look at the universe through a telescope we see ourselves in the same way as if it were a microscope.

This also means you weigh a lot more than you thought you did.

Doctors Urge Americans: GO VEGAN!

Mordhaus jokingly says...

Know how you can tell a doctor is Vegan?

Don't worry about it, they will tell you as soon as they enter the room.

I myself am a level 6 Vegan, I now only require sunlight to sustain myself. No food, no water, just Prana from the miraculous rays of the Sun.

Shep Smith Shuts Down Sean Hannity's Lies And Propaganda

Drachen_Jager says...

Yeah, it's fair and balanced to say the sun rises in the east and the sun rises in the west.

If the two are opposites it's not fair and balanced. One is wrong and one is right (as in this case) or, perhaps, both are wrong.

Neither scenario is fair or balanced.

The Day Jesus Returns

shinyblurry says...

Hi Sagemind,

I'm not offended by your questions or statements. I am guessing you didn't watch much of the video or else you wouldn't be saying all of these prophecies are based on an eclipse. It doesn't a do whole lot for your argument when you skim the video and then mischaracterize the content. This is the atheist MO; come to a premature conclusion based on incomplete information in a rush to falsify the data. Having only a superficial understanding of the subject matter, how would you expect to convince anyone of your position?

The sun being darkened is one of literally dozens (maybe hundreds) of signs that indicate the Day of the Lord, which this video covers. The Jews, and Christians aren't just looking for an eclipse, they are looking at world events, cultural conditions, and a myriad of other things which confirm these prophecies. Without the dozens of other accompanying signs, a simple eclipse wouldn't have any weight in fulfilling these prophecies. The Jewish culture knew about eclipses, that isn't what this is talking about.

This is a very indepth subject. For example, Sir Issac Newton wrote on bible prophecy extensively and said that he considered his work on prophecy more important than his work on mathematics. Based on his studies he corrected predicted when the Jews would return to their homeland. Do you think he just guessed? Read his writings. There is something there a little deeper than atheist talking points.

You've also mischaracterized my faith. I don't believe in God because I was scared and I needed something to lean on. I believe in God because of personal revelation; God revealed Himself to me and showed me that Jesus is the Messiah and the bible is His book. I was content to be a secular agnostic and I wasn't afraid of my death. God wasn't content with that and I responded to His call.

Your oversimplication of faith proves that you don't know a lot about it, or why Christians believe what they believe. I don't think that is very intelligent to dismiss something that you really don't understand. I think your rejection of my faith is mostly based on cherry picking information which has been spoonfed to you by atheist sources instead of a sincere investigation which weighed both sides instead of just one. I would love for you to prove me wrong here.

Have you ever considered giving the claims of Christianity a chance by asking Jesus Christ to reveal Himself to you? Either He is alive and can hear you, or He isn't. If He did give you a sign, would you be willing to follow it?

The Day Jesus Returns

Sagemind says...

Well, in the first few seconds, although this all sounds very poetic...

The moon does not "give light" it reflects light, so if there was an eclipse, then this would mean there would be no sun to reflect, so although partially true. these are both the same point.

And I can assure you the stars will not fall from the sky. You can tell this was written before we knew that stars were actually just distant suns. So written out of ignorance.

So this prophesy immediately looses credibility.

After that it just falls to creative writing all based on the natural occurrence of a solar eclipse. That's it. An eclipse. Someone in ancient times used a natural occurrence to evoke fear and sow seeds of of a story because people were uneducated and didn't know what it was.

Today we know what an eclipse is. We're educated, so why do people still fall for these stories. they're obviously written out of ignorance (unknowing) of what is now common knowledge.

@shinyblurry, I respect your personal religion. I endorse your need to believe in something to give you strength where you are weak. But educate yourself. Don't listen to this rhetoric and outdated nonsense. Be smart. I know you're an educated man. Don't hide behind this obvious and poorly written prose.
And definitely, don't sow this stuff to others. It just makes you look ignorant to educated people. You have a brain, and if you believe in a god, then you need to believe you were given a brain to use it. So do some thinking for yourself. You and your family will benefit from the use of a little intelligence.

I'm not saying you can't believe in your God. I'm just saying don't forsake intelligence. And if you can't engage in intelligent conversation, then don't preach using rhetoric created by people who where uneducated.

(EDIT: Sorry to be blunt. Sometimes we need blunt. I'm not trying to be mean. I've been learning that sometimes blunt is the only way to get through to stubborn people. I myself am stubborn - but smart enough to see, when pointed out, my errors in what I may think of this world - we are here to live and to learn, lets engage our brains).

Trevor Noah EVISCERATES the Civility Argument

Ickster says...

Until you've argued that black is white, the sun rises in the west, that we've always been at war with Eastasia, and are perfectly willing to fuck over most of the world for your own self-aggrandizement, you have come nowhere near to sinking to Trump's level.

SHS was politely asked to leave a restaurant because of her role as a willing and eager mouthpiece for policies that physically and emotionally have hurt (at a minimum) thousands of people. That we're equating that with something like gay people being refused service because of who they are says a lot about how skewed our perception of balance is.

People making the civility argument in good faith (i.e., not Fox talking heads) are making it because they actually have a moral compass and know that two wrongs don't make a right.

However, what was done to SHS isn't a wrong--no harm was done to her other than embarrassment, which is exactly what she should be feeling about her role in the world. When people are being terrible, whether it's a child, the president, or one of his enablers, they need to be told politely but firmly that it's not OK.

Think of this less as pouring gasoline on a fire and more like a controlled burn to help control the blaze.

As tempting as it is to sink to Trump's level (and I've certainly been guilty of this myself), I fear we're trying to put out a fire with gasoline.
