Barbie | Teaser Trailer

cloudballoon says...

I STILL have no expectation for the movie. I don't see Margot Robbie as a good cast for the stereotypical "Barbie" character unless the movie's a spoof, unlike her role as Harley Quinn which as 100% genius.

But as a trailer -- the purpose of which is to hype up the fanbase AND pull people in to see a movie they otherwise might not -- this one's totally winning eyeballs IMO. Totally deliver more than any other trailers I've seen for many, many years.

Yep. The teaser might not even be in the movie too. I remember when Austin Powers 2's trailer was funny with its Star Wars spoof as shown in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vRrZiMQl4k. That was such a teaser!

I'm optimistic that the level of creativity and humor presented in the teaser means the team behind the movie has their collective head screwed on straight. The teasers / trailers that worry me are the ones that are just quick cuts of various action scenes and striking landscapes - leaning too heavily on visuals gives me serious misgivings about the writing. When teasers give a taste but legitimately *tease* us (the Matrix is a good example, or the first teaser for LotR) that seems to generally be a great sign.

OK. This is hands down the Trailer of the Decade material, no doubt. No freaking way as a happily-married dude nearing 50yo planned to see this movie in anyway, but now I'm intrigued. Don't care if people calls me a creep, I'm going IN.

Had to laugh @3:07 when the "Girl From Ipanema" music is playing in the elevator which is an on going meme in movies and video games.

What if Akira Was Animated At 60 Frames Per Second

spawnflagger says...

I think it looks worse. Part of "cinematic" experience is the traditional 24fps of films. Many TVs have a setting (motion interpolation - which seems to be ON by default nowadays) that creates a "soap opera effect", and I personally hate it. Some friends like it though, so everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Looks like several movies were released in high frame rate, but I remember The Hobbit (2012)'s 48fps actually caused some movie-goers to vomit.

If Cloud Gaming Was A Person

newtboy says...

Lol. My brother loved cloud gaming…so much he was really pissed he had to buy a disc version ps5 (or keep waiting) ….until some of the games and movies he “bought” disappeared that is. Now he hates cloud gaming, calls it a total rip off scheme, and says I was right all along to want a physical copy of my purchases.

He runs a server farm in Austin, so his internet connection was never an issue.
