...but if'n what to read a movie, rather watch foreign films. 'tho some of those English films, like 'Chimes at Midnight', even the subtitles are a bugger to understand.

Yes, it’s Brooks, so there’s hope….but it’s also the 2020’s, so the pushback they’re going to receive from all the groups that can’t laugh at themselves would send most producers screaming for the hills. Can you imagine trying to make Blazing Saddles today? Anyone involved would be permanently blacklisted (no pun intended).
We NEED people to (re)develop senses of humor, and realize that everyone, including themselves, is ridiculous at times and deserving of being laughed at. That nothing is sacred and everyone and everything is fair game.
I HOPE movies like this could help with that, but I doubt it.

maybe it's just this trailer, but seems this one is taking a dramatic departure from the other Evil Dead movies' tone.

I watched the full length movie on Hulu last night.
I think this story works way better as a pair of short films.

I will wait until after the movie to avoid spoilers!

One of my favorite movies, not seen it in a few years, need to watch it again.

I'd totally forgotten about that one, but definitely saw it attached to something at the time. Of course in retrospect Phantom Menace would NOT be the #1 movie from 1999 to have watched, and neither it or Austin Powers 2 would even be in my top 5. We had Matrix, South Park, American Beauty, Fight Club, Sixth Sense, Iron Giant, Being John Malkovitch, The Mummy, Ghost Dog... so many good movies that year!
