I'm not certain I've seen a better drag racing video, or possibly even auto-related in general. Absolutely love that it gains altitude after the initial launch, presumably due to the speed, shape, and angle of attack causing it to act as a goddamn WING for a brief time. It would still be cool even with a crash after, but the lack of one, for a change, makes it drastically better!

drag racing is without doubt the most boring form of motorsport, but it's pretty funny to watch the Tesla smoke these guys.

Short answer...yes.
Long answer, if they line up and start stationary, then race to a finish line, it's a drag race.

I know it's kind of redneck-y but everyone should experience a top fuel drag race at least once. The amount of noise and power being produced will leave you in awe.

Weight distribution is just as important too. the beetle has the engine right at the back sot he weight is over the driven wheels. Very little weight up front and the body is relatively tall. That means from the start the rear wheels grip and bite hard, then any weight shift as the car accelerates and the front lifts puts more weight to the rear axle meaning even more grip. Beetles win drag races in the first 20m or so. As you can see in this video the difference in speed in the first second or two is massive. Stop the video at 39 seconds and you'll see in that first launch the beetle has gone twice as far as the mustang. That speed difference that early on is very hard to catch up.

This is a great video of silly cars burning photogenically. What shocked me, however, is that it's a *commercial for a drag racing event. That's the main attraction: cars burning and exploding? Yikes.

Have to watch RuPaul's Drag Race now. Sounds entertaining.
