It's voice chat for gamers mostly, and a messaging platform. Not really social media at all, closer to Skype or some other voip.

Another small factor that they seemed to miss on here was skype. The ability to make video-conference calls probably eased the need of business executives to be there in person.

Has to be at least 2003 when Skype came out.

on the one hand, progress to let people testify over Skype. that alone could save thousands of police hours per month. on the other hand, all the trolling looks really bad.

I don't use Skype so I don't really know, but one would imagine that there would be a way to mute and minimize incoming calls when you're already talking to someone else.

Terrorists should stick to making Skype calls.
