What Do Cynical People Really Want?
The irony is palpable.
This hyper cynical assessment of cynicism and cynics is some serious Jr high psychology in video form.
I'm clearly a cynic.
I had a decent childhood, with minor neglect but nothing that hurt me, just taught me to enjoy solitude. Like others, I've suffered loss of loved ones, both by death and choice, more often than I deemed fair. Like mom used to say," who told you life was supposed to be fair?" There's no secret hurt I'm brooding over.
I do have worldly experience, I traveled more by 18 than most do in their lifetime, studied at some excellent schools (and some horrific ones) for over a decade after high school, I have plenty of love and kindness in my life, more than I want or think I deserve sometimes. I've been happily married to the same woman for 21 years.
I thought this video was a slap in the face to honest cynics...dismissive of our valid, empirical evidence of how fucked things are, how crappy humanity is, and how little chance there is of solving our problems before it's too late, and infantalizing us as irrational babies lashing out because we've been hurt. Maybe we just refuse to pull the wool over our own eyes because we much prefer ugly truth to beautiful lies.
Edit: also, there's the idea that if you always expect the worst, you're never disappointed.
*rant over
Tip of the day: SHUT THE FUCK UP
I sometimes tell them "My forefathers fought and died for my right to remain silent. Discarding that right would be outrageously disrespectful and insulting to their sacrifice, and I'm certainly not going to do that to make a stranger's job a little easier and my life harder."
Indeed, never talk to the police.

Fine, forgive, don't excuse, condone, or allow the horrid behavior.
If you forgive and they repeat, and you forgive again, you excuse condone and allow.
Edit: if I could take a hundred with me, I might self imolate with pride and satisfaction, and a feeling that my life finally had meaning and value. I'm far too afraid of prison to pull the trigger on anyone though.
No need tell anyone about their mistakes. Mistakes correct themselves. For instance I thought loving someone was the right thing to do.
Then one day I lost someone I loved. It was the worst and most fearful point in my life. I felt that somehow I had the wrong idea about love and I was the only one who didn't get the message. The grief was terrible. Almost inescapable. I was stuck inside my own little world. If I had a gun I would have put it to my head and pulled the trigger. Luckily I had no gun but I did have a little more time to suffer over a decision.
Do I continue to love knowing the pain and nightmare of grief?
What do you think my choice was?
EDIT: Actually, you don't help by not forgiving inappropriate behavior. Forgiving is not condoning. It's really more of an exercise to keep from pulling the trigger or setting yourself on fire.
Your death has nothing to do with you and everything to do with those that love you.

I think you help people by showing them their mistakes, calmly explaining them if needed, and you help the public by exposing those who angrily deny any obligation to be responsible, civil, or accept established social obligations so others don't rely on them or trust them to do the obviously right thing so the public has the information needed to know to distrust and shun them.
You don't help by excusing inappropriate behavior.

Yes, but I'm not under the delusion that anyone would pay to read my ramblings. Funny enough, my first job was at a publishing company, editing text books when I was 13.
I broke my back....twice....and had partial paralysis for years. Norco gave me opioid induced hypersensitivity, which increased my pain levels insanely. Getting off them was scary, but decreased my pain levels from a daily minimum of 6/10 (equivalent to putting a nail through your foot, which I've done more than once) to a normal maximum of 5/10 (equivalent to putting a nail 1/2 inch into your foot, which I do a few times a year)....but now I'm pushing 50 with no recent work record besides "house husband".
Also, I cannot sell myself to save my life....and no one's clamoring to buy/rent me.
Money is not above all else. Good for you.
Can you still push a pen with your disability?
What Happens To Good Cops?
Forgiven? Absolutely not. Forgiveness without any indication of remorse is acceptance, and his actions were and are unacceptable.
30+ years ago. I would bet he doesn't remember it, seemed like a normal everyday thing for him to violently threaten someone's life, then threaten their safety and freedom if they dared to complain.
It also seemed that he accepted zero responsibility for his mistake or actions, like most cops, something his superiors obviously agreed with. It was somehow my fault he misread my clean license plate, so what would he have to regret?
I learned that day that it's not just individual bad cops, it's top down criminality and disdain for citizens.
Anger and mistrust are proper when you've been abused and threatened and had your trust violated violently....more so when the system totally fails to address it.
If he's Moby, I'm Queequeg, not Ahab. I learned police are dangerous, dishonest, and filled with contempt for those they're duty bound to protect and serve. I didn't turn my life into a vendetta against them, but I sure as fuck know sperm whales are dangerous and will ruin your entire day, and should be avoided when possible and never trusted.
Have you forgiven the cop that put a gun to your head and saved your life and his by not pulling the trigger?
I wonder where he is today and if he truly regrets and is sorry for his actions at that time. It's been awhile hasn't it?
Grown Man Pooping Wrong His Entire Life
There's this idea I've tried to incorporate into my life. 1) Nobody on earth is correct about everything 100% of the time. 2) No one can really know what they're wrong about (as one wouldn't maintain a belief they know is wrong) 3) I'm a person on earth, so I'm wrong about things and don't know what they are.
I hope the things I'm wrong about are minor. This guy here? He ended up with a pretty damned big wrong.
Where Are These "Good Cops" I Hear About?
This is not about what he seeks or doesn't seek. It's about the false satisfaction you may feel about harming or killing another person as punishment.
I don't think people "deserve" to die because that's already written into the program for all of us. I do think people should live with what they've done.
I would not hesitate to kill someone or give my life if it was my only choice to save a life or relieve the pain of a leg cramp. I look at it from a "First Aid" point of view. If you can't remove the victim from the danger, remove the danger from the victim.
Once the danger is eliminated or contained, punishment teaches nothing except to respect or fear that which can kick your ass. Which, after all was the goal to begin with in this case. Punishment is only meant for the pleasure of the punisher. Nothing more.
Killing someone as a form of punishment only makes you a killer. If that's your dream then you are in the right place to do it. But I think there are better dreams to be had. Don't dream it, be it.
He seeks neither equality nor justice, he seeks self enrichment and satisfaction at other's expense.
If you don't think some people deserve to die, we disagree.

I spend a lot of time blabbing about it, if that's what you mean :-)

As for maintaining a healthful diet, once you know what to put in the shopping cart it takes no more devotion than eating any other diet
It's essentially this https://www.drcarney.com/images/easyblog_shared/b2ap3_large_PCRM-Power-Plate-Small.PNG
which is very similar to the government's recommendations - https://i.dietdoctor.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/myplate-467x425.jpg, minus the dairy. (Canada has recently dropped dairy from their government recommendations, so it's becoming a mainstream thing to accept that dairy is not required in the diet - and even the dairy industry themselves are starting to give up, no longer is their own biased research saying dairy is healthy, they've begun to settle with dairy is not harmful lol)
It is important to me, personally because my close relatives died from easily preventable diseases, and I myself suffered from nephrotic syndrome, which would have killed me. And I mean suffered, my wounds were opening up, I had ulcers appearing on my skin, my joints were swollen, and my muscle mass was wasting away because I was pee'ing out all my protein....... AND THEN I FIND OUT IT'S BASICALLY AN OPTIONAL ILLNESS - and my life is saved.
It absolutely pains me to see the western world with it's epidemic of obesity, diabetes, heart-disease, cancer, and less common diseases like multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis and so on, suffering unnecessarily like I did because they do not know the how easy it is to avoid, prevent, and often reverse these diseases. The vast majority of people could easily be healthy if they switched to a whole food plant-based diet. Not everyone, but most.
We're doing it to ourselves. We're giving ourselves these horrible diseases, and destroying the planet, and killing 80 billion land animals, and 2 trillion sea animals to make ourselves sick. To me it's pure insanity.
I get a sense you devote a lot of your time towards a healthful diet. Is that an interest or a need? Just curious. Not sure if its a passion or a need?
