As a Body Snatcher, what I do is depicted at 6:40. I remove bodies at crime scenes. Homicides, suicides, auto crashes, OD's etc.

From elderly to fetus. Fresh to skeletal. For medical examiners, funeral homes and organ harvesting.

I get to see a lot of suffering of family and friends at the beginning of their torturous journey to a new and different life.

About 2 years ago I was in NJ to help take care of Dad who was in his final days. While there I was able to help my brother who has his own funeral home. He also had a contract doing body removals for the medical examiner.

Got a call about 2 am for a fatal wreck on Interstate 80 which involved a single vehicle with 3 females. When we got to the scene investigators were just finishing up and we were ready to remove the bodies.

The vehicle was estimated to be traveling 70 to 80 mph when it left the Interstate and went into the median and slammed straight on into a tree impacting on the passenger side.

The driver was airlifted to the hospital. We had to remove the front passenger and rear passenger side body.

The front passenger side dash of the car was pushed up to the front seat. The passenger in the back seat was probably 250+ lbs. and apparently wasn't wearing a seatbelt. She was thrown forward and broke the front seat from the floor thus impacting the front passenger from behind.

At this point the scene was about 3 hours old. As we were removing the last body we heard one of the girls cell phone start to ring. It kept ringing off and on until we left 20 minutes later.

The police told us they found a sonogram picture in the wallet belonging to one of the girls. It was 3 weeks old.

When we arrived at the M.E. which is at the same hospital the driver was flown to, they were just bringing the driver to the morgue also. All 4 were back together.

When that phone rang that night all I could do is think that whoever it was, they only had a few more minutes of peace left before their life would be changed forever.

The heaven they were living in was about to turn into hell.

OK, today is flight prep and tomorrow is the flight to GRR airport in MI. I'm taking an old notebook computer so I'll probably be posting again sometime next week after the funeral. Don't know how much because I'll likely be tied up in paperwork and lawyers but we'll see.

In some parts of Asia (in addition to graduation, as mentioned in the video), it's also a funeral song.

That false sense of security rears its ugly head again.

I removed a guy that T-boned an SUV with his motorcycle, on the driver side sliding door. He went in through the window and all the way to the back compartment. All his limbs and his neck were broken.

Luckily he still had his helmet on. The family may still be able to have viewing for the funeral.

The driver of the car was airlifted to the trauma center. There were no passengers in the back seats.

An employee confided in me how her mother's funeral and burial would have cost roughly $60k to be interred next to her father at the cemetery. She ended up having the remains cremated and bought a nice urn. Then with the help of her boyfriend she went into the cemetery at night and dug a hole on top of her father's grave, placed the urn and buried it. Final cost about $1,800.

I do body recovery and transport for several funeral homes and also a Medical Examiner in Florida. Basically, I'm a "Body Snatcher." I handle bodies from hospitals, hospices, private homes, crime scenes, auto accidents, etc,etc,etc.

The "cremation machine" is called a retort. It gets fairly loud and fairly warm while standing next to one. Surprisingly, there is very little odor if at all.

There is usually a waiting period of about a few days before a body can be cremated. This time can vary from state to state.

Cremations have become more popular over the years as it can reduce the cost for families that can't afford all the pomp and circumstance or just want simple send-off.

I look at it in a simple way: words having meanings; people have motivations. A conversation has a context, and in your example the passerby isn't aware of that context. If she chooses to eavesdrop and feels offended, well, while I do feel sorry for her...it's really not any of her business what you and your brother are conversing about. You might as well turn to her, give her a once-over and criticize her choice of pantsuit. She doesn't know you; she didn't ask for your opinion; and your retort probably made her upset.

Should people try to be aware of their surroundings and try not to say inappropriate things? Of course, but that's just common courtesy...like not commenting on a funky smell at a funeral visitation. Political correctness is fine if we all agree, but we usually don't. And therefore we get people who virtue signal over others because they refuse to kowtow to the newest linguistic fashion.

Now, I'm a fairly polite guy. I hold open doors, give up my seat, offer to carry heavy packages, smile, wave and nod greetings to many strangers, etc. Yet I still occasionally get someone who disagrees with my legitimate use of a term (as I understand its meaning). Generally, I still apologize...but I don't then re-evaluate my language ability. I'm not willing to let the connotations of words take on new, questionable-yet-popular meanings.

I've had a Native American friend laugh at me for asking what he preferred I say: redskin, indian, aboriginal, first people, etc. I've also asked a "retarded" person if they preferred if I said "intellectually challenged." He preferred retarded because...wait for it...he had a lot of trouble saying the other one. Now that's irony.

I think my heart's in the right place. I was taught to be polite, and I try to be at all times. But it gets under my skin to have a total stranger "chastise" me when they know nothing about me. Frankly, I find it more offensive to interrupt and belittle a stranger than it is to overhear some stranger's questionable utterance.

Being in the funeral and body recovery business, I've been following Ask A Mortician on YouTube for about 3 years. She gives great information and ideas but sometimes a little too goofy. Not that that's a bad thing.

@Sniper007, @MilkmanDan and @Payback, sorry I typed it on my phone so it wasn't a very clear argument. What I was arguing against was the contention that atheists are the worst for "recruiting" people.

Have any of you ever had an atheist knock on your door? Ever had an atheist stop you in the street? Ever seen an atheist protest a funeral? Not only have I never had any of these experiences, I've never even heard of anyone having these experiences.

Are there "strident" atheists out there? Of course. But let's be real, they tend to restrict themselves to things like books, debates, youtube videos and in an extreme sense... bus adverts!

Apart from the bus adverts, those are all things that other people choose to be involved in, unlike religious people who go out and interrupt other people's lives (even if they are perfectly polite about it) to "recruit" them.
