One of our greatest strengths as humans is the physiological ability to adapt to anything, from smells (e.g., any scent including perfumes and garbage dumps) to physical discomfort to the abuse and suffering other living beings, like with this dog or at Terminus (in The Walking Dead) or in Nazi Germany or in human slavery.

One reason the human being is so successful as a species is this ability to overcome great adversity through subconscious hardening and numbness.

It gauls me that woman didn't even see so much as jail time, a fine, or anything. How do people even treat an animal like that?

I kept expecting some kind of a twist sad ending.

"Those tumors turned out to be cancer and it claimed Rusty."

"The day after this was filmed, Rusty was hit by a car."

"Rusty was unaccustomed to his new owners, and he attacked a 3-year-old child and was then put down."

Glad it didn't go that way. Poor little old feller.

We have 4 rescue dogs and it's always touching to see how happy they can grow to be. The one abused Shepard we have would flinch if you raised your hand to scratch your head, when she first got here. Now 2 years later you have to negotiate with her for a spot on the couch, she is a whole new dog.

These cruel souls who neglect their pets baffle me. I'm just glad the original owner came to her senses (probably got some $) and gave Rusty Diamond a chance at a happier life.
