Wow, that is really borderline, but also fuckin funny.

Interesting how something can get more funny as it gets closer to "the line", but once that line is crossed, you can never go back across it.

Interesting hypothesises, but there are one or two other species who can't talk, yet who manage to propagate their genes and while I have not studied them at length, I don't believe it's really a case of forcing the female.

Actually, the hypothesis is total bunk: in most (if not all) mammal species, the female chooses the male she will mate with (hence the males evolving fighting and/or show-off attributes).

That being said, I chuckled at the explanation of short-haired lesbians.

Indeed. Perhaps I should have used the sarcasm option, since what I meant was that there's thousands of species that manage to communicate well enough without rape and that his hypothesises is nonsense.

I'm sure there's _some_ truth to his hypothesis -- consent is easier to establish when there is language.

But clearly consent _can_ be established without language.

Also, don't go all "myth of the noble savage" on us and think that the animal kingdom isn't full of rape. Ducks are so rapey that that it has significantly impacted their reproductive structures:

Yeah, ducks are lothesome rapists of the worst kind. But the genital arms race they've gotten into is interesting because it's completely abnormal. What is generally adaptive is for females to choose their mates. For each rapey duck there are a thousand other species of birds where males compete to be chosen by being more attractive, strong, or useful than their rivals.

You know that line, you know, the one just just behind the tip.. that's the line. Don't be crossing that.
