McMahon Learns Why Blumenthal Never Investigated Her Company

To paraphrase the exchange:

McMahon: If WWE was so bad, why didn't you investigate us?

Blumenthal: I only had jurisdiction over civil cases, you're under criminal investigation.

McMahon: I have no comment.

I'm confused...what did the WWE do that was so terrible? Not sanction it's employees for taking substances that were completely their responsibility? I'm all for the WWE Wellness Program and them bringing in better more capable...less GIANT wrestlers but I still can't blame completely the WWE for what athletes do to themselves.

It would be much different if the WWE was forcing this on them...and it could be argued that the wrestlers who were taking steroids were given more in the company. Still...does personal responsibility exist? When an NFL player gets caught taking steroids do people call for the NFL to get shut down?

Excerpt from the Connecticut Senate debate. Richard Blumenthal is the current Attorney General of Connecticut, and is now the Democratic candidate for the Senate seat currently held by Chris Dodd (who is retiring). His Republican opponent is Linda McMahon, the CEO of the WWE, which is a made-for-tv fake wrestling league.

I'm not sure what specifically they're under investigation for, but in the past there have been scandals about steroid use/distribution, and more recently about some sort of shady refusal to reimburse their wrestlers for injuries they sustain in the course of their relatively dangerous jobs.

Whoa whoa...Scripted Wrestling Entertainment. You wouldn't introduce Buffy as a fake show, it's a Science Fiction/Fantasy show.

I think it still needs to be labeled as fake wrestling as you can watch real wrestling on TV as well. There is no real Buffy, therefore you don't need the label.

Whoa whoa whoa. I am in no way supporting either candidate, but we all wonder why our government is struggling when it's run by unqualified "celebrities." However, I totally respect a politician accepting defeat in a debate.

Why are politicians immune to criticism? Is it because they represent a MUCH larger party and their ill-planned agendas? Kudos Ms. McMahon for simply saying, "Yup, ya got me." That's true debate and political "sportsmanship."

Now, let's move on to the next topic...

I totally agree, but it's much better than responding with some garbled spin that didn't address anything. Akin to this response...

She didn't say "Yep, you got me" she said "No comment." That's a huge cop out, not an honest concession of defeat.
