Skip to around 1:45 for the mother of all explosions

when does the audio blast arrive? someone has GOT to edit this video and play the explosion sounds at the same time the explosion is seen

Why? So more people can be ignorant of the differing speeds of sound and light? Yeah, let's make reality seem more like the movies, that'd be great.

Paybacksays...

I love the smell of ethyl mercaptan in the morning. You know, one time we had a barbeque, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' hotdog or burger. The smell, you know that propane smell, the whole backyard. Smelled like... summer.

Another camera man who makes me want to reach through the screen to stangle him for making stupid comments while filming. You DON'T need to say "oh my god" over and over again like your casted in some lame role for a sci fi movie.

so far, it is known that at least one firefighter died in this blast and one employee is missing; probably dead.

discussion: what are the siftrules on snuff? what is snuff? and does this constitute snuff?

for a reference case, i once uploaded this video to the sift, which was subsequently dismissed because it was reported that the person filming died from the blast, even tho this report could not be verified, u can not know from watching the video that the person died, or even if the person died, that they died while the camera was still filming (and not later in a hospital, for example):

well we have raw footage on the sift of 911 - technically this is 'snuff' too

I think the rule for snuff, is to stop people showing videos of people getting shot and killed, blown up (that one led to a siftinquisition) and general captured to video nastiness...

The example pipp3355 gave is borderline - the explosion takes out the camera (and thus the camera man)

I know we heard that someon died, but I think the only way I would discard this due to poor taste is if you saw the firefighter going into the building...

otherwise, tragic, but not snuff...imho

Please do not post pornography or "snuff" films (which we define as the explicit depiction of loss of human life displayed for entertainment).

Note: The presence of human fatality is acceptable and not considered "snuff" if presented as a limited portion of a lengthy educational, informative news report or documentary. Our definition of "snuff" does include but is not exclusive to any short clip in which a human fatality occurs whether or not any victims are actually visible on camera.

I think we're being too aggressive about determining what this snuff rule is meant to imply. This is obviously not an offensive video which depicts death or even insinuates any loss of life. The focus of the video is on an explosion, not death. It's awe inspiring. It's newsworthy.

I vote to return.

pipp3355says...

yeah so do i actually (vote to return). i don't think this is snuff.. but i also don't think the 9/11 'jumpers' video, or the fireworks explosion is snuff either, for the same reasons. i guess the easiest thing to do is submit the fireworks explosion again and see what happens, using this case (if it is returned) as a reference.

i vote to return

Someday, this barbeque's gonna end.

OMG, this kind of article reminds me why hack towns like Barrie get hack writers like the author of this piece: http://www.thebarrieexaminer.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1152232

What the hell? What kind of freak has a problem with wind turbines? HONESTLY???

I'm also annoyed with people who say "ooooh, how could they POSSSSIBLLLLAAAY allow a plant to be built next to houses????"

How about asking, why did they build a residential neighbourhood next to land still zoned industrial?

Perhaps decide to live in an area that's NOT next to land zoned industrial.

I see that people who don't play Simcity = malinformed.

Though I guess they didn't see a big yellow box with an "I" on it, maybe that's why.

A good little FAQ here: http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_25643.aspx
