Hedonistic machine lubricates itself

Did you know that machines share all of the sensual passions and desires of humans? This one has the capacity to bathe itself in luscious, viscous 70 weight motor oil. For a machine, could there be anything more satisfying? -YT

This sculpture doesn't evoke Hedonism to me and the attempt by the artist to describe it in sensual terms is a little ridiculous. It looks to me like an analogy for Individualism.

The one thing the sculpture, combined with the artists enterpretation, does better than anything is illustrate why artists should never try to enterpret their own artwork for the observer. Because it naturally forces you to reconcile the artists intent with the execution.

Other than that, I like it.

Thefreak epitomises the bad side of the net. ie; a mong with an inflated sense of himself, commenting on something beyond his capability to understand. Not only is his comment full of pretentious nonsense, his education is 2nd grade. The spelling of the words "enterpretation", "enterpret", as opposed to "INterpretation and INterpret are childishly wrong. His syntax and punctuation have no form and, for someone trying to critique something beyond him, he really should be quiet and try to get an education. Ok, i agree, i'm being pretentious; but it's 1,30am, i'm drunk and sick of reading nonsense.

I believe A10anis...that you meant TheFreak had an "inflated sense of self" not an "inflated sense of himself." May not seem like a big deal to you but for those of us with superior interlect it's crazy to say it any other way. Also don't slouch in your chair whilst surfing my internets.

Yogi, that ellipses between "A10anis" and "that" was spaced incorrectly and absolutely unnecessary. I will be docking you two points from your final grade.

In regards to TheFreak's comment, I must agree that I appreciate it when artists let me interpret their work without their help. The video by itself, with only the title "Machine with Oil", is excellent and doesn't need further description from the creator.

^After that initial critique you call yourself, TheFreak!!?? (by the way that last sentence is grammatically incorrect and the one before that is called, incomplete!!)
!!! I wanna fuck that machine !!!

Just because sumone draws an image or makes a model of something with a story atached to it dose not stop you from ignoring that story and imaganing your own one from the same image.

With allot of art as a communication medium they require the artist to write something as to what they intended it to be or mean , because the fact is its so easy for one thing to mean an almost infinite amount of things.

the person looking at it can then get what they want out of it and also evaluate if they agree with the artist.

I don't think all objects / art should have the makers intention written on it or near it but it would be nice and would remove those twatish people that speculate on shit and use there authority to claim a higher knowledge on something , when in reality none has authorty over annyone else.

I am very excited to learn that I am the epitome of an entire segment of the internet population. I would like to accept this honor and thank my mother for providing me an overblown sense of 'self'. Thanks also go to my childhood priest, for not touching me in a manner that would turn me into a drunk who makes angry comments on the internet at 1:30 in the morning. Oh, I would also like to thank the public school system for teaching me absolutely no useful grammar or spelling skills.

This piece isn't about hedonism, it's a metaphor for the American Military-Industrial Complex.

you see you should find this in museum and then place that on the description. not only would it be a usfull way of perceiving it but if the artist started with that in mind and ended up with what he did it would make them a very skilled artist.
