Giant Fish Head is Going to Eat You!

LiveLeak calls this a 'snapping wolf fish'. Whatever it is, I don't want to meet one!

This isn't quite as impressive as my zombie snake head clip though :)

This is real? And I'm correct to understand that this is just the head of the fish?

If so, **** the parents for teaching their kids to LAUGH at a decapitated creature (likely that they themselves decapitated). Preparing the next generation of mentally handicapped chimps.

I'm guessing it is the same as with wasps, bees and bumblebees as they can sting you even while they are decomposing if you touch the stinger, it "shoots" out and stings you. Reflex like actions even while dead...

Hahaha city folk are amusing. What if they ate the other half and are just being bemused by a reflex action of a tragically ugly fish? Cutting a chickens head of sometimes results in it running around until it dies. It is dark, but amusing. It isn't what you behead a chicken for, but it is something that happens, and doesn't make it any less funny.

^They stuck some object in its head, and they continue to fuck with it even after that. If you instantly decapitate almost any creature, there will some sort of reflex action in the head shortly afterward. Sometimes the jaw moves a little, or the eyes blink, or whatever. Doesn't mean you have to fuck with the head for shits and grins. Like Hybrid said, it's harsh and disrespectful. Just leave it alone.

O.K., so this might not be a nice thing to do to a fish, but there was a thing in Japan where the fins were cut off a special small fish which was then introduced into the vagina of a woman (duh!) which would then cause an incredibly delicious orgasm in the woman, not the fish. Every fish inerviewed after the act, however, was ecstatically in favor of the procedure. This has made me tremendously jealous of the small fish, into which I hope I will be in my next incarnation.

I've been looking up Iki Jime after Gee mentioned it and from what I understand it's to accurately and quickly sever the blood vessels and spinal cord with the use of a knife or something like this.

The thing stuck in that fish's head has multiple proggy things and does not look like the ideal device to be using for any accurate spinal cord cutting work.

In any case, this vid is pretty freaky and yeah they are being disrespectful but I care more about if the fish suffered while it was still living. If not, meh... what can you do? You cannot force people to be respectful to everything that they eat. Better than if they were toying around with it while it was alive.

I think every one in here should take a moment to understand how things die. It is highly debated, but is that fish dead? Maybe, maybe not. What is dead? Dead when the person observing the former cannot sense signs of life (pulse, eye dilation)? Or is death when a brain no longer carries electrical signals; moreover is death when the cerebral cortex no longer functions.

How long is a severed head still alive?

Below is some debate about the severed head issue. While I found the first link interesting, I was not satisfied. The Wiki Answers link seems to be more to the point. How long does a severed head retain life, perhaps a few fleeting moments. To an observer maybe seconds, or minutes. To the victim, no one can know; given the effects of time dilation.

In short there is no humane way to die. Death is a dirty business. Some see this video and say it's not humane, some see the video and all but condone it. I see this video as an observation of the interaction between the macabre and desirous. Business as usual.

I'm not upvoting because of the way these people treat this...

I think you could say that it IS dead, all higher brain functions are gone and this is just reflex action. What's happening with the fish head IS interesting, it's fascinating what can keep going for a long time after 'death'. I used to fish for trout in a friend's pool (they'd put trout in there during the cold months, let the grow and then fish for them before next summer)... after killing one we took the heart out and put it in a glass of water. It kept beating for a very long time, at least 15 minutes or so if I remember correctly. And if it stopped, you'd prod it and it'd start up again. Fascinating. So I'm not adverse to being intrigued by such things.

BUT, there was dignity in the killing of the fish, and just awe at how the heart kept going.

This sort of sick laughing at the head of an animal moving after death is disgusting and speaks to a lack of respect for living things which I hate. I think that if I heard 'awwww' or 'oooh', or 'wow' or the like I'd be much more inclined to upvote.

YES we kill things and eat them, but it can be done without being like this.
