Cracked LCD Screen Prank

The RIGHT way to fix a broken LCD: by poking it.
jmdsays...

hmm

1.. do people normaly use his computer and leave it on? Now for me, no one can gain access to let alone use my computers..

2. He knows about ctrl alt del, but what about the power and reset buttons on the pc? I dunno about you, but if ctrl alt del dont do anything, I go for the reset switch.

3. cracked lcd fail when the monitor can still display black while lighted when changing video modes.

This trick only works on the really stupid.

Yep, it was pretty obvious when he restarted it and it was fine during boot-up that it was a prank. But no, he continues to hit it like a common ape. Probably would have cracked the LCD eventually if his equally moronic roommate didn't spill the beans.

I thought it was a pretty good and smart prank. I do miss his reaction though when his roommate tells him what's going on. Who would think to check their keyboard cable when the monitor seems broken. Broken LCD's really do look like that, I mean it was a picture of a broken LCD on his background. The backlight of a broken screen can still be working.

Wouldn't work on me!

My normal reaction would be to press the Num Lock or Caps Lock keys to see if keyboard lights would turn on and off. Since they wouldn't, I'd assume the computer was locked up and I'd press the reset button and that screen would go away.

Hah!

I could see being easily fooled by this initially but a broken LCD is still broken when it's displaying the logo. That should have caught his attention even if he's not particularly savvy.

Ctrl - Alt - Delete. Ctrl - Alt - Delete! CTRL - ALT - DELETE! WTF!!!!

lol.

One thing though, the image is at 1024x768. Who has a LCD monitor shitty enough that it runs at that resolution? I tried resizing with Irfanview (the only picture viewer worth two shits. The basic XP viewer blows in comparison,) but then it's so pixalated you can tell it's fake immediately.

I think most of you need to remember that the initial shock of seeing one's monitor fucked might very well send a person into a bit of a panic. Sure, I'd troubleshoot it differently by bringing up the monitor's built-in menu, but cut the boy some slack =P Sheesh.
