bareboards2says...*quality
I was expecting a way different solution than they came up with. Way cool.
siftbotsays...Boosting this quality contribution up in the Hot Listing - declared quality by bareboards2.
Yogisays...I wonder if South Korea has a higher rate of suicide than North Korea? Assuming we could even get accurate numbers.
zeoverlordsays...Personally i would have electrified the railing, but i guess this works too.

siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Health) - requested by brycewi19.
JustSayingjokingly says...Breaking News: rope sales soar in South Korea!
xxovercastxxsays...If I was this close to taking my own life, I don't think being patronized by a bridge would make me feel better. If anything, I would go just go somewhere else to be away from the crowd in my final moments.
They say the suicide rate on this particular bridge has dropped by 77%, but how has the suicide rate in general changed? Or hasn't it?
Scaring suicidal people away from places they can commit the act is not a solution, it's sweeping it under the rug.
gharksays...South Korea has the second highest suicide rate, not the highest, according to wiki, Greenland's rate is three times higher The vid mentions it has the highest amongst OECD countries. Anyway good idea, lets hope it brings the rate right down.

Jinxsays...You're right of course, but its possible this bridge saved one or two lives. If I went up there to kill myself it might make me hesitate. It certainly wouldn't fix any of the underlying issues, but it might give me more time to either find help, or have somebody find me. Its hard to say. Still, I think its a neat message I just hope they dont take that 77% reduction too seriously

zebishopsays..."the average suicide rate on the mapo bridge fell by 77%". Maybe that's because I'm not a native speaker, but that sounds like a poor choice of word.
coolhundsays...Just jail the people in their homes. Take away all sharp objects, ropes, sheets, etc.
WOOT! No more suicides!
Or just try to make their lives less miserable.
lucky760says...Ah, of course it was funded by a life insurance company. They had to try something to reduce their payouts.
Gutspillersays...Lame, I was hoping for nets to deploy upon someone jumping.
speechlesssays...It's sweet, but the bridge wasn't the problem.
siftbotsays...Invocations (viral) cannot be called by speechless because speechless is not privileged - sorry.
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
I might be suicidal too if this kind of schlocky corporate hucksterism is what qualifies as mental health care in my country. Sorry.
TheSluiceGatesays...*commercial for Samsung.... Pah!

Fletchsays...Yeah, I was thinking "nets" or something.
