Moron EXPOSES Chinese Government by Accident

spawnflagger says...

the video content is not pro-Trump, and certainly not pro-China.

it definitely could be shorter though.
TL;DW = CCP pays these "influencer" "whores" to "show" that there's no genocide, and all them have "handlers" constantly following them and just go to 1 "tourist spot" in the province, but the province is so big that it would be a 15+ hour drive to get from this spot to one of the reported forced-labor camps. Also all the friendly "dancing locals" in these influencer videos are in on it, either getting paid or just forced to participate in the videos.

I hadn't heard about that story. Funny and sad at the same time. Definitely would get thrown out of court if the prosecutor did bring charges. Reporter did the right thing (telling them), it's a shame he's getting backlash of stupidity.

When it comes to sensitive data, the government and corporations have due-diligence requirements that weren't met here (even if it was unintentional/temporary), so maybe (IANAL) the teacher's union could file a class-action suit? They'd probably settle out of court for 1 year of LifeLock or some other such BS. Maybe the website was created by the Governor's grandson or nephew as a high school project? Mistake is worse than incorrect ACLs on a S3 bucket...

Yes, Missouri. The unhinged ignorant governor wants to prosecute reporters for viewing source data, but there’s no law about this, no hacking required, just a left click, and despite the governor’s politically motivated attempts to force a case, the prosecutor has declined to file any charges against the reporter who noticed and reported that the government website had publicly posted the social security numbers of every teacher in the state….likely because the only crime was on the government’s part….including the continuing politically motivated retaliatory investigations against the reporter who discovered this inexcusable lapse in security under the governor’s nose.

He (the prosecutor) should file charges against the website administrator for exposing 100000 teachers to identity theft, and the governor for abuse of power for trying to prosecute the whistleblower for reporting the non existent security to the government, he even held off publishing his report to give the school system time to fix the issue before it became public knowledge.

A reasonable school district/principal would agree, but the way "hacking" laws are written, even bypassing a password by guessing "password" is an intentional breach, and unless they have written consent ahead of time (like white-hat penetration testing companies get), then it's against the law.

So, just depends on what the school wants to do.

Why? There was no damage done, and they exposed potential weaknesses in a school system’s security. (Imagine a school shooter using it to tell everyone to assemble in the gym or something, they needed to know their security sucked).

Sr pranks I saw in person included covering the hallways in liquid dish soap. That caused the school to close, and cost thousands to clean up, yet no charges were pressed (I think the entire sr class got an hour of detention or something weak). I’ve seen others where teacher’s/principal’s car was put on the roof, or disassembled then reassembled in the teacher’s lounge with no way to drive it out.
As Sr pranks go, this seemed innocuous, almost pleasant.
I suppose a hard nosed principal and DA could bring charges, but both would lose all public support from their community and possibly their jobs.

An apple painted with the blackest paint

Vanta is available as a sprayable "coating" but I don't think you'd consider it a paint.

I wouldn't trust Musou to be non-toxic. It contains material that the toxicity is unknown. Lets just say I wouldn't mess with it unless I already had cancer.

I should have checked the "jokingly" box on previous, because both are soooo black you wouldn't notice the difference by looking at it.

SFOGuy said:

Vanta black isn't a paint, unless I'm mistaken. It's a material --the micro carbon tubules.

This is a water-based paint that --isn't toxic to you (Vanta is) if you touch it or ingest it.

So, it's a win of some sort.

false advertisement - Vanta Black is blacker, at 99.8% (in spray-on form). It's immeasurably black in raw form (> 99.96% - no spectrometer in the world was powerful enough to measure how much light it absorbs)

probably this mousou stuff is slightly less expensive (ridiculously vs ludicrously?)

this is definitely a solution in search of a problem (that doesn't exist)
But it's cute. If they released a brightly colored version, there might be a market for it (in Asian cities).
I can't tell if it had foot pegs, or if the girl was just holding her legs up...
Might also be difficult to drive in high cross-winds (common on bridges), so would be good to see a "donut hole" in the middle.

Jim Carrey reacts to Will Smith Chris Rock Slap @ The Oscars

spawnflagger says...

I agree with Jim Carrey that the standing ovation given to Will Smith was more offensive than the slap itself. Kudos to Chris Rock for taking the high road, and getting "on with the show" - shows a true professional. Glad his comedy tour tickets are selling out.

A lot of initial reports were calling this a punch, but it wasn't. It was a weak slap, I'm sure that Smith could have slapped much harder but that wasn't the point. It was still dumb. He should have just got on stage and asked Chris to apologize and hold up the show until he did. The dumbest part was Will actually laughed at the joke!

As far as DA prosecuting, you know he'd never see jail time, and for any monetary fine- he's already done to himself by negative reputation. Think of all the potential future roles he's lost in that 1 moment. Time to go buy an island and move there, cause he's now retired.

Top Gun: Maverick | NEW Official Trailer (2022 Movie)

spawnflagger jokingly says...

So he comes out of retirement, and is gonna fly his old-ass F14 against F-22's and F-35's ?
Or is Maverick just "that good" that he doesn't have to get re-certified (read 100s of hours training) on these new jets?
