Channel Takeover?
I admit, I'm still trying to figure out what channel I should do if I ever get to diamonds, but if anything, I still want to take over the video game channel...
I have no offense against Oatmeal, but if I'm not mistaken, he has been MIA for almost 3 months now and I am still throwing my hat in the ring so that I could take over, if I could...
My question is simple... What would someone have to do to takeover a channel? Elections or hostile takeover?

Basically that's a question for admins to answer. Here's what you could do in the mean time: Drop him a profile message and ask if you could take it over, especially because he hasn't been active for about 2.5 months. If he replies in the affirmative, then I can't see dag or lucky objecting to a change of ownership. Still, it's their call.
You must upvote all of my videos to manage the video games channel. By the way, "managing" a channel is so easy you can be MIA for three years and still have the same impact you would if you were here everyday. They run themselves.
^ Just for that I'm tagging all the lolcatz videos with * fear. Clean that up bitch!
If anything, I might ask Lucky... he seems to be the best person to ask when it comes to things like this...
Actually this situation is not unprecedented.
A couple of months ago member jimnms wanted to take over LadyBug's religion channel. The unwritten protocol is basically as described above: Post a public comment to the current owner's profile of your desire to take ownership and ask for a reply. If within 2-3 days you have received no response, we can assume they shan't return, so just let me or dag know and we'll get you all moved in.
I think it's a great idea simply because we have too many channels.
2-3 days with no reply is short, no? How about at least a week or two? What if someone had an emergency? Imagine their dismay when they returned.
yeah blankfaust, I am imagining yours.....Sifttalk post from choggie:"Can we ditch the *spurious channel when bf leaves for 3 days?"
Yeah, that's short, but I was only speaking about channels where the owners have been absent for a very long time.
If an owner is still around, ownership wouldn't be taken unless the owner agrees to it.
I say you come up with an original idea...I mean the sift needs MORE channels. How about like *rodents or instead of * catsanddogs we have a *llamasandgoats channel?
Seriously...a *law channel?
Alright rottenseed, I'll add to the list of what channels I think need to be added:
*medical, or *health
*green, or *environment
*Irish - they're an English speaking people, yet they aren't British. You've got lots of Irish bands and music, comedians, entertainers, films, etc.
*atheism - Yes, just like you wouldn't classify something with *Happy simply because it is completely devoid of happiness, so I also believe an *atheism channel needs to exist
*evolution - Sure, it's a branch of * science, but * parody is a branch of * comedy (mostly). There are TONS of evolution sifts here, so I think evolution would be a good channel by itself.
*farts - There has been a slow but steady increase in fart videos. I won't name any names.
Post is already assigned to videogames talk - ignoring all requests by kronosposeidon.
if anything, we should get a robot channel.. nonetheless, I'm going to post in oatmeal's profile...
