Though Lovecraft claimed that the Necronomicon the Book of Dead was merely a fictional invention of his own making, many persisted in the belief that it was a real volume a terrible and forbidden book, this is its secret history its connection to the evil aleister crowley and the portal to ancient alien dimensions called ,the old ones

Okay, obviously one would expect a Lovecraft site to be biased, but for presenting the other side of the story...

I personally tend to favor the idea the book was invented by Lovecraft, and why people would want to claim it's a real book is beyond me.
