It looks like the whale shark was probably trying to get his bait bag that was dangling there to attract larger fish.

Ok, it may be because I know Whale Sharks are completely harmless, but I've not laughed as hard as I did at his gurgle screams in a long ass time. This is comedy gold to me.

True, but there's a big difference between getting hit by 4 tons against a brick wall and getting hit by 4 tons while floating in the ocean. I suspect the only damage is to his ego ... and perhaps to the hygiene level inside his wet suit.
