How could anyone say "no" to Weird Al parodying your song? To me that would be one of the greatest honours possible to bestow on a musician.

Wow, having read the blog post of Al's now it really does paint Ms Gaga as an absolute arsehole. She wouldn't give an answer based on a request where she was told the idea for the song (before it was written), which most artists will agree to. She wouldn't agree after being given THE LYRICS to the song. She demanded to hear the FINISHED version before she would say yes or no.

Weird Al had to cut short a family vacation in order to record the track only to have her say NO... after ALREADY READING THE LYRICS, and already KNOWING THE MUSIC, because it's from HER SONG!

The wikipedia track listing for her albums says she writes the lyrics herself, Whereas her producer RedOne seems to get the credit for her sound. So I guess you can say she writes her own music. But douchebag, yes.

Weird Al updates the situation:

After putting my Lady Gaga parody on YouTube this morning – and announcing that it wouldn’t be on my next album because Gaga didn’t approve it – there was a huge outpouring of disappointment from the Internet.

Apparently the fact that she didn’t approve it was news to Lady Gaga herself!

Gaga’s manager has now admitted that he never forwarded my parody to Gaga – she had no idea at all. Even though we assumed that Gaga herself was the one making the decision (because, well, that’s what we were TOLD), he apparently made the decision completely on his own.

He’s sorry.

And Gaga loves the song.
