The only scene in Skyline worth watching - nuking the aliens

*** spoilers ***
United States Air Force launches an attack against the alien spaceships and flying alien drones using stealth unmanned combat aerial vehicles and conventional drone aircraft armed with air-to-air missiles. Only one stealth plane (an X-47B) gets through the carnage and just before it gets destroyed it fires a nuclear missile, hitting the mothership. The huge detonation blows the ship apart, but as the mushroom cloud clears, the ship rises back into the air and begins to slowly repair itself.

I saw this movie in theatres. It's one of the worst I've ever bought a ticket for, There was a really old man in a wheelchair there with his wife. I spent a lot of the movie distracted by how sorry I was feeling for the old man that this might be the last movie he ever sees.

From what I understand, this is a glorified tech demo for the company that did the effects for Battle: Los Angeles.

...another pinnacle of modern video excellence.

For invasion movies, they portrayed the Marines pretty well.

I couldn't help but laugh at the impossible barrel rolls and dives the bomber was making.

I thankfully didn't pay to see this movie.. well frankly I've yet to see any but this. I'll just assume that the aliens lose because a few hundred survivors vs 7 billion humans.. doesn't really matter how good your tech is.

I enjoyed it well enough. It was nice to see an alien/current-day-human confrontation end the way it would in reality. I'm sure I'll enjoy the sequel too.

That was clearly a multi-megaton device though - so the American government had already written off LA.
