YouTube: Donald Trump has the world’s greatest memory AND he can see the future… the classiest, most beautiful future ever.

Was the Washington Post in an article on September 18, 2001 when it wrote the following?

In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners’ plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river.

Colbert's Leftist Comedy Puts CBS in Ratings Rut now in 3rd place. Guess not what real Americans want.

"a number of people" is not the "thousands and thousands" that Donald stated.

There's someone here who is interested in misrepresenting the facts, and it's not Colbert.

I think what really happened is that in his memory he mixed up the footage of the celebrations in the Middle East with some rumours he heard about New Jersey. Easy mix up. That he (and you) are doubling down on it just shows the bend toward willful ignorance.

Yes, and later retracted reports of 'a number of people ALLEGEDLY seen celebrating' (but none of these allegations could ever be proven) is also not broadcast footage of thousands crowding the streets and cheering.
I think it may have been a mistaken memory at first, but by now he's certainly been shown the actual footage and reminded that what he recalls happened in the middle east, not Jersey, but being Trump he can't possibly admit any mistake ever, so don't just double down, quadruple down and angrily ridicule anyone not towing your line (attached to your barge of BS) by repeating your lie. That is exactly how he said he does things in his book(s), no one should be the least bit surprised.

One thing still gives me hope...the largest 'party' in America this election is "independent", so even if he does manage to get the Republican nomination, it's meaningless. He won't get the independent vote, and today a 'majority of Republicans' is a relatively small minority.

I don't disagree. However The media with all their searching did not pull this up, not even the Washington post fact checker. All media said he is wrong and that this never happened. Trump might have been mistaken, sure but he was not entirely wrong either as was the media.

The fact as @newtboy points out that this this was later retracted does not really enter the picture.

Eh, your own links points to that article being linked to his statements. Anyway the general point is there are nuts in every country. Some of them happen to be religious fundamentalist nuts. Some of those are going to be Islamist.

I think the point you should be focusing on is that Trump routinely throws out assertions that turn out to be false or half truths. Not that in fact checking those assertions, some news organisations missed that while his statement was generally wrong, if you rephrased it, it was kinda right.

What the fuck is going on here? Is this real politics? This is an obviously stupid, ignorant man. It's as though he has verbal diarrhea - he just can't stop exaggerating and making things up as though he's a kid in a playground, with no thought for evidence or substance, i'm expecting any minute for him to say that his dad can lift a house, he's been to the moon three times and he's been made Earth President by the alien high council. How the hell can he make so much progress in his bid for the American PRESIDENCY?

"I don't know where i saw the video, but i know i saw it because i have the world's greatest memory"
Those words were spoken in absolute seriousness by a leading presidential candidate for the US in 2015 when justifying a racist comment about muslims. I write this for posterity so future historians are left in no doubt, when the video is long gone, when all we have are fossils of internet text, because our civilisation violently died when President Trump took the west to nuclear war because he thought his dad is better than Putin's dad.

You can trust my memory. Where did i see it? I don't remember.....

@bobknight33 - whereas those right wing comedians have been absolutely killing the ratings as of late. They don't exist because as Chris Rock said comedy should always be punching upwards - so where is the comparison to say whether or not a right wing comedy show would do so much better? Personally i very rarely find Colbert funny, but that's because i don't find him funny, not because i think he's left wing - hence i wouldn't watch his show regardless of politics. It's your burden to prove that his political leanings have anything to do with his ratings.
