Swat Team Completely Destroys Home Chasing Shoplifter

A man's home is completely destroyed when police chase a shoplifter inside. Using tanks and paramilitary tactics, they completely destroy the home rather than try smoke or tear gas to remove the man. Multiple tanks drove over multiple neighbor's fences, and every room in the home is destroyed, most with the walls torn (blown) down. Every room in the house has explosive damage. Over $250000 in damage, all personal property in the home has been destroyed, and the home is condemned. There's also housing for the home's renters and rent for the owner the now owed that we, taxpayers, will be paying for.

Jesus fucking christ.

One guy with a gun on being chased on suspicion of shoplifting warrants that? They could've afforded to sit outside for days until the guy gave up, but apparently had way too much of a hard-on about being bad-ass soldier-types.

Mordhaussays...

Wow.

This is why our police does not need to have access to military gear. You had one suspect with a weapon, you talk him out or you rush multiple parts of the home. What you don't do is blow out every wall in every room, tear down the fences all around, and make it look like a warzone.

Now, as a dog owner, I would be pissed because if they knocked down my fence, both of my beloved pets would run out and be hurt or killed. What if there were kids playing in those other yards? The sheer lack of consideration for the damage they were doing is atrocious.

The worst part of this is none of that money that is going to be paid on lawsuits over this is going to come out of those jackbooted thug's pockets. It's going to come out of the people of that community's taxes. That is horseshit. I would force them to sell their toys and demilitarize, then take that money to pay people.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR OUR POLICE TO BE ARMED WITH MILITARY GEAR!!! If you are going to police us with the same gear the military has, then you are basically the military and should be subject to Posse Comitatus and the Insurrection Act of 1807.

No problem there...they would have shot your dogs before knocking the fence down 'for their own protection'.

I had a couple opportunities to shoot animals...well...two deer, but thank God there was always someone else willing to do it. I would rather shoot a person who was deserving than an animal.

But why is it that we only get one side of the story here. Was the guy shooting at people? You leave a gunman in a house and every house in that vicinity has to be abandoned until the bad guy gives up, which could take all week.

Gee, even Charlie Manson got to tell his side of the story, but here at videosift, you only get one side.

It's a kangaroo court with newtboy as the Lord High Executioner! lol

Here's the story:
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/front-range/greenwood-village/owner-of-greenwood-village-house-blown-apart-by-swat-says-this-is-an-abomination-th
is-is-an-atrocity

So they got the guy out alive, which did take 20 hours. If the cops had shot the guy, I imagine you folks wouldn't be happy about that either.

'There's blood all over the walls, and some brain matter in the geraniums!'

bobknight33says...

I'm with @lantern53 on this.

@newtboy how about some more one sided anti cop shit.

Truly what about this guy held up in the house with a gun? Was he some 80 yr old man kicking back drinking beer and eating Cheetos say F off to the cops?

Or some shit kicking thug worthy of tearing the mess out of the home to get to?

Truly how about some balance to the story. Sure the place is trashed but the why is not told that justifies this. Maybe it not justified I don't know and can't tell by this story.

How many good cop deeds done for every bad cop deed do you think happens every day? Sure there are bad cops and sure there are good cops the run hot in the heat of the moment. But you only care about the bad shit cops do. Dip shits like you desire zero tolerance. But reality is different and does not provide utopia.

"They methodically fired explosives into every room in this house in order to extract one person. Granted, he had a handgun, but against 100 officers? You know, the proper thing to do would be to evacuate these homes around here, ensure the safety of the homeowners around here, fire some tear gas through the windows. If that didn’t work, you have 50 SWAT officers with body armor break down the door."

You see, they methodically blew out walls with explosives to force him into one area. They used an APC with a breaching attachment to open multiple entries into the residence. One hundred cops against a guy with one handgun.

If this is our standard procedure, terrorists don't need to hit big targets, just split up and hide out in buildings. By the time our militar...oops, police force is done, the building will be wrecked to a shell. But we'll have that one terrorist, so as the Chief of Police said in this case, it's a WIN!

@lantern53 @bobknight33

What the fuck is wrong with you two?!

WHY DO YOU JUSTIFY THE WORST SHIT, JUST BECAUSE COPS DID IT?!?!

You're both fuckin' batshitcrazy sociopaths.

I seriously hope the worst shit EVER happens to you and your families..

With the caveat that Law Enforcement Officers did it.

That way, I can smugly mock your heartache and suffering by telling you your problems are imaginary.

"Well, if they didn't want to be burned to the ground..
your Houses should have just cooperated with the authorities.."

I agree with you.

What is the background of this guy? petty crook or harden thug?

Genji, proving every day that the most intolerant person is a liberal.

Yeah, I'm the sociopath but Genji is the reasoned, nuanced liberal who wants me and my family to suffer the worst fate imaginable.

oooooookkkkkk then

GenjiKilpatricksays...

Do you even know what a sociopath is?

noun, Psychiatry.
1.
a person with a psychopathic personality whose behavior is antisocial, often criminal, and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience.

You causally mock the death & suffering of basically anyone who isn't a LEO on this site daily.

As the progressive treehugger hippie I am..

Why wouldn't I want you to learn some empathy and compassion?

The best way to gain understanding is thru share experience.

Seriously, as if either of you would not? - rightly - be devastated if something like this happened to you?

@lantern53, if cops mistakenly busted into your house and shot your dog to death..

Would you blame the dog, yourself, or the incompetent officer?

This smells like a case of use it or lose it. A while back there was a video posted concerning the militarization of police forces. In short there was a clause where bye if toys weren't used without a certain time frame they were either reclaimed or further gifts couldn't be received. That's my guess, but it's just a guess.

dannym3141says...

I agree, but i have something else that it smells like too. Like when i was a kid and i'd be out with friends, unsupervised, not yet responsible, and let's say someone swings off a tree and the branch snaps off. He goes oh that shows how strong i am, so before long another kid starts trying to rip a branch off, people are mocking each other, challenging each other's strength. Before you know it, you're in a group with a load of kids like wild animals trying to destroy a tree on someone's lawn, branches and leaves everywhere, dirt and mud and the tree uprooting. I made that example up, but many people have been in that kind of situation as a kid. Mine was absentmindedly throwing mud at a wall because it made an interesting splat. I zoned in half an hour later from my daydream and realised i'd ruined someone's wall and covered their driveway in mud. I did clear it up.

What this smells of to me, is that they were after someone, getting excited and feeling the thrill, suddenly one turns to his mate and goes "dude! do you think we can use those new explosives...?", another one chips in "even better, we've got that APC!", and they all hoot and howl with excitement, grab all of their exciting new toys and go in like the charge of the light brigade. Take out those fences so we can surround them! We need that wall down! Maybe that one! By this time they've forgotten that they're trying to protect people's property and safety, but they're having the time of their lives.

That's what it smells of to me - out of control immaturity and gang/yob mentality. And they're armed with army equipment now. When things like this start to happen, you really have to start questioning how things are being run. How else could it have happened that they gut out a house like that?
