Ridiculous Suckerpunch by Mayweather Knocks Out Ortiz

Perhaps the most ridiculous knockout I have ever seen. Mayweather should be embarrassed.
Kofisays...

Ortiz headbutted Mayweather then went called on it he hugged Mayweather as a form of apology. The ref was looking at the judges or somesuch and when Ortiz backed away from the hug Mayweather clocked him.

Mayweather said that you "need to keep your guard up at all times" yet when you have just hugged someone in a sportsman like gesture how can you possibly have your guard up when your arms are wrapped around your opponent.

This undermined boxings claim to be a gentlemans sport. Long live UFC.

Not to be mercenary, but given the purse of that match...>> ^Kofi:

You god damn mercenaries

clearly this has more entertainment value than if mayweather waited a few more rounds to get a judges decision, or else it'd be pretty unlikely people would be discussing this fight so much. so i say props to floyd for making the internet a little less boring today.

Yeah I don't really care. You're in a boxing match...NO HUGGING! You get knocked out you are clearly the worse fighter, even if it's on the way to the ring...or in the supermarket a few days afterwords. No sarcasm...because again I don't care.

that's ridiculous!

a referee's "time-out" should be followed by a "box." Otherwise, the action is suspended. For the ref to count a knock-out like that is just completely absurd.

But then again, rule number one of the sweet science is, and will always be, protect yourself at all times.

Unfortunately you're right - you have to defend yourself at all times. Unfortunately. Because i hate this, i think it's a massively immature and cowardly thing to do. It's a true detriment to the sport, and it doesn't need that right now cos there is fuck all heavyweight skill to pull in the real masses.

It would be rediculous but i'd still strip him of the title if it were up to me, it would be a fitting punishment. Cos let's face it, he'd get it back pretty quick but he'd also have to learn a bit of humility and at the same time the sport gains a bit more infamy/fame and also shows it wants to see good sportsmanship.

Daft thing to say really, but i hate him.

I'm fine with this. Why did buddy want to come out of the corner and have another huggy kissy session? You already did that, put your damn dukes up. And Mayweather is pushing him away and stuff making it clear he's not into the hug. I personally want to punch anyone who ignores body language like that.
