Police Ticket Children Over Curfew to Keep Them Safe

Makes sense to me. They should probably also throw them in jail overnight to teach them a lesson. Repeat offenders should probably see some prison time. We're losing lives, people! We must do something for our children.

wow. he went all biblical.

unless there are hard numbers to show a substantial increase in violence against this age group..
this a just another scam to make more arrests and money.

Not called Law Enforcement fer nothin'.

going to the police station is basically being arrested. Especially since repeat infractions invoke fines and visits from state social workers. I am glad he finally says what the law actually is, an attempt and moral enforcement by the state. Just as for years, the state has had the last word on what marital status is, or what drugs you put in your body. There is no logical separation with this and fining parents who's children are found at fast food restaurant.

Ya, bunch of BS. My Niece made Cheerleader this year in Highschool after the first preseason Friday night game they went to eat at Ihop. Cops came in and ticketed the whole squad. That was the first I had heard of the curfew here. Guess kids don't have any rights anymore.

That's right, Lock everyone up in their homes, so then they can't hurt each other.
Maybe put some padlocks on the outside of their homes to keep them in...

What a load of crap!
Charge with loitering if it's loitering but don't restrict a person's rights!

Sooooooooooooooo, the question is this---is there a 'too late' for children to be out at? And what should be the punishment for being out, if there is a reasonable time? And if not, then who is to blame when a child is brutally assaulted? The victims--for their deliberate part in the offense? The criminal (Of course!) The parents (Some do not know their children 'sneak' out, hence, 'sneak,') or the police officer who ignores the child and/or never punishes them, to correct their behaivor?

I am a libertarian, so I say hands off. And so I say never send a kid to jail for this. However, if kids make decisions, only they should be held accountable...But then, what decisions did we make at 11, 12, 13, etc? Decisions that would lead us to pregnancies, drugs, social problems (Playing too many video games, for example,) obesity, etc…

A hard ticket to follow, however, since the state, county, or whatever says 'This law is final,' well, that law is final.
