"Fetch" implies that the Emu brings it back. It really just does a little "I found it, right here" dance and waits for it's human to pick it up and throw it again. More 'Emu chases ball with it's little girl'.
Cute, but not exactly 'fetch'. ;-)

The same thought crossed my mind, and I struggled with whether I should use that exact term, but in the end, I did....It's still cute...;)

I used "it's" because I didn't want to use his or her because I didn't know if it was a boy emu or a girl emu....but now that I look at it, it does seem not quite right. hmmm
