peaceful protests are often ignored and never work

instead of practicing their 1st amendments peacefully, I believe it's now time to start practicing our 2nd amendment and execute the treasonous bastards in the streets.

like the first american revolution, there were years of protesting that were ignored until americans finally had enough and rose up violently to destroy the tyrants and to take our country by force.

and like Benjamin Franklin said a government needs to be overthrown every 200 years or so or it becomes a tyranny. And we are now past time for a new revolution.

I unfortunately share these sentiments. Peaceful protesting is effective to a certain extent. We are fast approaching the extent. This is one reason I believe in being able to bare arms even though I despise guns and violence not that guns would be effective against much of the riot technology the cops have. Supposedly, the Bay Area cops brought a sound weapon to Occupy Oakland....

I went there last night, it was amazing. Occupy Oakland doubled and I saw many friends from my hometown of SF there in solidarity. Everyone was pretty jovial for having been brutalized by militarization the previous night. The cops did not show up but raided Occupy SF... which is not much of a story since Occupy SF seems to be non existent. Later on that night the guy with the PA announced they were going to SF, which I thought to be a bad move but it ended up turning into a break away march and hundreds of people started marching down Broadway a major street in Oakland.

Seems to me for a first time in a long time people are starting to give a shit about how their country is run. Now - let's turn back the clock a year and say that this was a Tea Party rally that started throwing rocks at cops, tearing up a public place, and otherwise behaving like a bunch of vandals. The cops tear gas up the joint and disperse them. Would anyone on the Sift have cared. Highly unlikely. In fact, I suspect that prog-libs all over the nation would have cheered as cops took the nightsticks to Tea Party members, and we'd have had all kinds of commentary from leftists about how the Tea party was dangerous, needed to be slapped down, or otherwise removed from the public discourse.

I've seen the vids. These OWS losers were rioting. They deserved everything they got. No sympathy here. The Tea party has never engaged in these kinds of shenanigans, and if they had then they'd have deserved a few police beatings as well. If you are 'protesting' something and can't make your point peacefully, then you don't have much of a point. If you decide that your point can't be made peacefully, then openly declare your intention to instigate violence and mayhem so people can judge you properly. If you can't (or won't) honestly portray yourself, then you're just a coward who wants to cause trouble hiding in a crowd.

The second they encounter an idea, concept, person, or philosophy that does not lie 100% flush with thier own, the standard modus-operandi is to stick their fingers in their ears and start singing "Meet The Flintstones".
