chingalerasays...I love the newspeak dictionary dot com
http://www.newspeakdictionary.com/ns-new.html
Great forum for new entries and old favorites, Orwell's complete dictionary s included, as well as many in-progress layers. Another is:

INSOC for Oceania and beyond, ya buncha monkeys!!
00Scud00says...Low information voters eh? Maybe they would be better informed if news outlets actually started trying to report the truth and facts, rather than just acting as spin doctors for the party of their choice. I really like George Carlin, but I did take issue with his bit on shell shock vs. PTSD, I suspect that as time went by mental health professionals started seeing people who exhibited the same symptoms as someone with "shell shock" but had never been to war, so they ended up with a more clinical sounding and event neutral name.
lucky760says...Asian passerby at the end must've wanted to be interviewed about his STDs.
oOPonyOosays...Really? Newspeak and drop it at that? Let us see a whole segment on newspeak.
criticalthudsays...yeah ptsd is a very broad term and covers more than shell shock. but it certainly downplays the severity and problems associated with a large or repeated concussions to the central nervous system.

chingalerasays...Let me try and find one-If you want to hear some newsspeak I could compile a short-list of the most common bullshit phraseology used by politicians and military personnel, I'm sure with a few mouse clicks one can find tomes on the Internets.
I got one for you: Dissect the true meaning of "No Child Left Behind", if there even is any meaning embedded-Why can't johnny read between the lines?
Really? Newspeak and drop it at that? Let us see a whole segment on newspeak.
poolcleanersays...There's plenty love left, give peace a try. There is only hate we suffer famine, give war a try.
00Scud00says...I think PTSD is a psychological condition which is classified as an anxiety disorder (according to Wikipedia at least), actual physical damage to the nervous system would be something else entirely. So maybe Carlin was misinformed or the definition had changed since that bit was written, which was quite a while ago I think.

chingalerasays...read a book-, er, I mean, watch TV for an updated newsspeak compendium

criticalthudsays...cool. interesting...thanks.
one variant - chronic traumatic encephalopathy

jonnysays...As a good friend of mine is fond of saying - "Euphemism leads to optimism."
Also, I think friendly fire is a pretty old phrase, WW2 era I think. Prior to that, friendly fire was probably very uncommon due to weapons and tactics.
chingalerasays...I read one this morning describing a vacuuming algorithm of the I-Robot roomba 770-In referencing the machine's ability to aggressively and repeatedly sweep an extremely dirty area of the floor or carpet, it uses sensors and such utilizing , "Persistent Path" cleaning.
I thought that that would be great newsspeak for politely describing an obsessive-compulsive's dysfunctional manner of vacuuming and then vacuuming again and again until a hole is worn in a spot on the carpet
