Michael Hastings: Police and Fire TOLD not to comment

Super fishy. Journalist Michael Hastings' mysterious car crash and death at 4 am has people scratching their heads. But now the police and fire departments have been instructed not to speak on the incident. Also no skid marks were found at the scene, and the Mercedes auto manufacturer claims their cars are designed not to catch fire nor blow up.

Hastings indicated the day before his death that he believed he was being investigated by the FBI. He also emailed a friend the day before and said he was working on the "biggest story yet".

From Wikipedia: In an email to colleagues, which was copied to and released by Sgt. Biggs, Hastings warned that the FBI might interview them.[42][43] WikiLeaks announced that Hastings had also contacted one of its lawyers a few hours prior to the crash.[44] The FBI released a statement denying that Hastings was being investigated.[41]

They had his phones, computers tapped is a given. He pissed off a military general enough for that putz to lose his stride-The engines' behind a car that's burning in a hotter-than-normal pool and there's no skid marks. The accident occurred while he was leaving the club strip @ 4 a.m-ish??

Now go look at a picture of the general-

Kinna looks like the kind of person who wouldn't flinch while twisting a recon-tanto into your guts in front of your entire family, eh? I believe I recognize the countenance of a sociopath when I see one-(beady-little fucking eyes, locked-jaw, Ohhhhh look, and he fought with pride in all the noble wars-

Operation Desert Shield
Operation Desert Storm
Operation Enduring Freedom
Operation Iraqi Freedom

What the fuck just happened?? What happened to Hastings is called a "hit" in one industry and a black operation in another. Orrrrr Hastings was partying harder than he ever thought possible and hit a palm tree at maximum speed causing his engine and drive train to shoot-out backwards and his car asploded??

I read somewhere that he sent an email to his coworkers the night before he died explaining that he believed himself to be under surveillance, that they should seek legal council if approached by any suits and that he'd be going off the grid for a bit chasing a big story. And then he dies at 4am in the morning in a crash nobody is saying anything about. it certainly reads like a scene from a hollywood thriller and I'm sure thats the narrative the news media would love to repeat.

It wouldn't at all surprise me if he was being watched given his history and all this NSA business. Maybe as little as a year ago I would have scoffed at the idea of him being killed...now I'm not so sure. I'd normally say the simplest explanation was probably the right one, but given the details of the crash that have been made public I've no idea what that might be. So no speculation from me, apart from to say that I think something stinks here.

Oh, and I'd love to know what that story he was working on was.

Mercedes-Benz has issued a wide-ranging recall on some of its most popular models due to a faulty fuel filter flange, which the automaker says may crack and cause fuel to leak, which could then cause a fire.

The recall was for 2011-2012 models. One of which was the model that Hastings owned.

Why would someone buy a pretty fucking fast-ass sports car if he drives like a granny?

Sure it's not a Ferrari, but it's a very quick stature vehicle.

Also, why was he driving at 4:25AM?

moodoniasaid:

His friends said that they couldnt understand this because he "drove like a granny". I'd say he was probably murdered, wouldnt be the first journalist to be murdered over a story.

And a Merc isn't a sports car, its a luxury vehicle. Think German Cadillac, not German Mustang. Some Mercs are sporty, but not many, and its not the primary selling point.

It is the best of the best in the old-man vehicle line of cars.

My understanding is that he owned a 2013 model. Also, @chingalera, my understanding is that the car was traveling south, and thus the engine was found a couple hundred feet in front (not behind) the vehicle.

Personally, I find this suspicious. Most suspicious is the call a few hours prior to the accident he made to a wikileaks attorney. Normally, I wouldn't expect official agencies to put out a "hit." There are just safer ways of going about preventing a damaging story, like detention, or smear campaigns. However, if it's possible he had damaging documents that he could release via wikileaks, it would be out of their control. In that case I'd entertain the possibility.

Also, Richard Clarke (former Counter Terrorism Czar) has points out that we have good reason to believe that major country intelligence organizations have the ability to remotely control cars. Further, he pointed out that this crash (especially the lack of skid marks) is consistent with such. He was careful, however, not to explicitly implicate any particular agencies. For my money, LAPD is at least as likely as the FBI. Those fuckers are no good.
