Tbh, I'm quite glad they left the gender ambigious. The joke is that nobody knows - revealing it wouldn't be much of a punchline.

Think its great that Valve are releasing this software for free AND it seems as though they intend to support it with tutorials and updates. As for the video itself...fucking brilliant as usual.

Expect news later this week from AdultSwim. They announced there was some sort of partnership between Valve and themselves and I think this sourcefilmmaker is probably the connection. Looking forward to seeing what comes of that.

I think it is clear that Valve is not going to make it clear. But it has been hinted too many times that it's not a dude.

Dear god, I don't want to know...

So many levels of pure awesome:
* Direction: Really nice, feature film quality
* Animation: Again, feature film quality there, beautifully done
* That it's done with a game engine: Just amazing
* That it's done with a fricken in engine movie editing suite...
* They're giving it away for free

That's just brilliant work on their part, and is only going to increase interest in Source powered games, which is good for them.

And good for Steam because that's how you get the editor.

It does not "confirm" it exactly, but the Scout referred to the Pyro as a male. "Is HE here?" Again - that is not a 100% lock, but it is pretty close. The tone of the voice, the structure of the body, and the Scout's reference. The Pyro is a dude.

There is way, way, waaay too much Awesome in this video. Like it should be two or three videos, that's how Awesome it is.

Gonna go and play a Pyro for awhile. Good times.

I caught that too. Should have used "they", which keeps gender-neutral, but also suggests a duality of personality, which helps the mystique.

Actually, check the closed captioning. The Scout says "He's not here, is she?" The gender is still ambiguous.

Gotta love Valve.
