McCain campaign won't let Muslim supporter talk to CNN

You may have seen the video of the Muslim McCain supporter who told a racist, bigoted Republican that the McCain campaign does not endorse his racist views.

CNN wanted to interview Daniel Zubairi - a Muslim McCain staffer - and he was willing to come on the show. Then the McCain campaign decided it didn't want him to talk to CNN.

Maybe McCain doesn't want other racist and bigoted Republicans to know he actually *gasp* employs MUSLIMS!

What kind of setup?

Well, the obvious setup would be the "he's not actually a muslim" one. But, no way to know.

But, I'd bet McCain's campaign didn't want him to talk, because they benefit so much from the division and fear they have fostered between "real" Americans, and those scary brown (terrorist) ones.

If McCain's supporters knew that he has muslims on his staff, then the only thing driving his candidacy - racism - is dead.

^ Or for them to acknowledge that Obama isn't Muslim, or that being Muslim doesn't automatically make you an evil terrorist. If they did, they'd lose half of their voters. They might go to Bob Barr or something.

i would not be surprised if this decision backfires in a similar fashion to mccain's previous suggestion to postpone the first debate. not to compare the two as equally weighted, just in a sort of potential media frenzy

The dumb thing about it is that anyone who really thinks Obama would be Muslim or a terrorist probably doesn't care at this point. They probably overlook the names and only look at the party.

They believe the 'fire in the belly' of their campaign is the right wing bigots (apparently 'the small town real America')

I'm betting the advisor's have said...

If they adopt a rational moderate view... they will deflate the support my their main bigoted base.

They will waste all that support, anger, and mistrust their lies have build up. The right wing lives and thrives on Fear, Uncertainty, and Hate. It's all they have. They need it to spread to win.

To officially say on CNN that Obama ISN'T a muslim, and that muslim's are Americans too? That would be suicide.
