Laser Etched Art

Andy Gikling created the illustration for this piece, which was then imported directly into LasX's "Lightguide v5" laser control software, which can "print" images as vectors or rasters.

This sure beats acid etching for speed and crispness.

This is awesome! It start as tiny, tiny machinegunfire and ends with a I'll-burn-you-effin'-face-off!-fireball.

And I'm probably going to have to kidnap Andy Gikling too. Sorry guy, wish we could have met under better circumstances.

The first half where it was line printing was impressive.

The finger of god bit was off the charts, particularly the full double outline.

It's all vector. The first part is lower power, so it's cutting through to a different layer to the second part, hence the different colours. That's why the flame is so much larger for the second part.

Another interesting part for me was the sound. There must be some great patterns that would sound incredible as they were etched.
